The Blue Jays claimed de Geus off waivers from the Marlins on Thursday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. The 26-year-old holds a 5.00 ERA and 6:2 K:BB over nine innings covering 11 appearances this season at the major-league level. De Geus will be assigned to Triple-A Buffalo for now.

The Marlins designated de Geus for assignment Tuesday. The 26-year-old was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville in late August and has now lost his place on the 40-man roster. De Geus has made 11 appearances between the Marlins and Mariners this season and has given up five earned runs with a 6:2 K:BB over nine innings.

The Marlins optioned de Geus to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday. De Geus appeared in seven games after being called up by Miami on Aug. 9, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out four across 5.2 innings. The reliever will head back to the minors to clear a spot in the bullpen and on the 26-man active roster for right-hander Mike Baumann, whom the Marlins claimed off waivers from the Angels on Sunday.

The Mariners designated de Geus for assignment Friday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. De Geus has spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Tacoma. Across his 32 outings in the minors, he's registered seven saves with a 6.60 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 21:11 K:BB across 30 innings.
