  • The Marlins placed Faucher on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a right shoulder impingement. Faucher has been one of the most reliable members of Miami's bullpen this season, posting a 3.19 ERA and 1.40 WHIP through 53.2 innings while picking up six saves and 11 holds. Now that he's set to miss roughly two weeks, it's unclear who Miami will turn to in high-leverage situations, though Anthony Bender, John McMillon and Jesus Tinoco would seem to be the most likely candidates for ninth-inning work.

  • Faucher struck out all three batters he faced to earn a save over San Francisco on Sunday. Faucher needed just 13 pitches (10 strikes) to roll through the Giants and close out the 7-5 win. He converted both save chances while striking out five in two perfect innings during the weekend series against San Francisco, and he's now tossed four straight scoreless innings. Since taking over the closer role in Miami after the trade deadline, Faucher has converted six of seven save chances while registering a 4.15 ERA and a 19:6 K:BB through 13 frames. On the year, he owns a 3.25 ERA over 52.2 innings.

  • Faucher struck out three batters in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 9-8 win over the Rockies. Faucher needed 18 pitches, but he got the job done cleanly after the Marlins rallied ahead in the top of the ninth inning. The right-hander is up to four saves in five opportunities since he became the Marlins' closer at the end of July. He's allowed six runs and posted a 13:5 K:BB over 10 innings in August, so he hasn't been dominant, but there are few other options to challenge him on a rebuilding team. Overall, Faucher has a 3.44 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 56:24 K:BB through 49.2 innings this year.

  • Faucher (2-3) blew the save and took the loss Friday against Atlanta, getting tagged for three runs on three hits and two walks in the eighth inning. He struck out one. Manager Skip Schumaker continues to play it coy when it comes to the Marlins' closer situation in the wake of the Tanner Scott trade. After rookie Valente Bellozo gave the team five innings as the starter, Anthony Bender worked the sixth, Andrew Nardi the seventh and then Faucher the eighth, leaving open the question of who would have gotten the ninth had Faucher not coughed up a 3-2 lead. The blown save was Faucher's third of the year against two successful conversions, and Friday's implosion was the first time he's been charged with multiple earned runs since June 17. The situation could be headed for a committee, but at least so far, Schumaker has been willing to deploy Nardi and Bender earlier in the game in key spots.

  • Faucher struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday during a 6-2 win over the Rays. It wasn't a save situation, but Faucher was still the pitcher manager Skip Schumaker called upon to protect Miami's first ninth-inning lead since Tanner Scott was traded to the Padres. Andrew Nardi, who was viewed as the most likely candidate to take over closing duties, pitched the sixth inning with a two-run lead, while Anthony Bender worked the eighth after the lead was extended to four runs. Faucher has pitched well enough to be in the high-leverage mix -- over his last 15 appearances, the right-hander has posted a 1.93 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB in 14 innings.
