The Marlins optioned Mazur from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday. Mazur will give up his spot on the 28-man active roster and in the rotation to Edward Cabrera (elbow), who is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Phillies after being reinstated from the 15-day injured list. After being recalled from Jacksonville on Aug. 28, Mazur went 0-3 with a 4.44 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 14:8 K:BB in 24.1 innings across five starts.

Mazur didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Rangers, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks in four innings. He struck out two. Mazur delivered a decent outing, giving up no extra-base hits, but he was lifted after throwing just 63 pitches. The right-hander has been shaky overall in 2025, posting just one quality start through his six outings. With a 4.80 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 19:12 K:BB across 30 innings, Mazur will be tough to recommend as a streaming option in the vast majority of fantasy leagues against a formidable Mets lineup next weekend.

Mazur (0-4) allowed two unearned runs on one hit and two walks over six innings Sunday, striking out four and taking a loss against Detroit. Mazur coughed up a pair of runs in the second inning due to two errors by his defense. He then retired 13 of the last 14 batters he faced to deliver his first quality start of the year. He had given up at least four runs in three of his last four starts, but he dropped his season ERA from 6.30 to 4.85 after Sunday's performance. Mazur has posted a 17:10 K:BB through 26 innings and has yet to strike out more than five batters in an outing. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Rangers next weekend.

Mazur (0-3) yielded six runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks over 4.1 innings Tuesday, striking out one and taking a loss against Washington. Mazur was greeted with a three-run shot by Josh Bell in the first inning. The Marlins then plated a pair of unearned runs in the fourth before Daylen Lile belted a solo homer in the fifth. Mazur had allowed two home runs through three starts at the MLB level this year before Tuesday's poor performance. He's now sporting a 6.30 ERA with a 13:8 K:BB across 20 MLB innings. Mazur is currently projected to face the Tigers at home this weekend, though it's unclear if he'll get another turn in the rotation.

Mazur is expected to work as a bulk reliever behind opening pitcher Tyler Phillips during Sunday's game against the Phillies, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. Mazur had made a pair of starts for the Marlins upon being recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Aug. 28, but Miami appears set to use the right-hander behind an opener with the hope of generating better results from him. Over his three total starts with Miami this season, Mazur has gone 0-2 with a 5.74 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 12:5 K:BB in 15.2 innings.
