  • Bellozo did not factor into the decision in an extra-innings win over the Twins on Thursday, allowing one run on six hits and one walk over five-plus innings while striking out two. Bellozo allowed at least one man to reach base in three of the first five innings but managed to work his way out of the jam on each occasion as the Marlins jumped out to a 4-0 lead. However, the Twins finally got to the right-hander in the sixth when Carlos Correa launched a solo homer to lead off the frame. Bellozo then got the hook after giving up a single to the next batter, marking the fourth consecutive start in which he has failed to make it through six innings. However, the 24-year-old also hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of his five starts this month, giving him a strong 2.67 ERA in September to go along with a 12:6 K:BB.

  • Bellozo (2-4) took the loss against the Nationals on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Bellozo was burned by homers in the second and sixth innings and was pulled with a 3-1 deficit at 92 pitches. The 24-year-old's velocity was down on each of his offerings, and he has now failed to complete six innings in nine of 11 outings this season. On the year, he owns a 3.70 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 39:19 K:BB across 58.1 innings and lines up to face Atlanta next weekend.

  • Bellozo did not factor into the decision in Sunday's win against the Mets, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four in 5.1 innings. Coming off consecutive scoreless starts, Bellozo wasn't quite as dominant Sunday, allowing seven hits, including a solo home run by Brandon Nimmo in the sixth inning. Still, Bellozo was effective and now sports a 2.45 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB in 33 innings (six starts). The 24-year-old owns a modest 7.4 K/9, but his ability to consistently induce weak contact has allowed him to thrive in his rookie season. He will look to keep rolling in his next start, currently scheduled for next weekend against the Cubs.

  • Bellozo (1-1) picked up the win in Wednesday's 6-4 victory over the Reds, allowing five hits and two walks over 5.2 scoreless innings. He struck out four. Making his fourth career big-league start, Bellozo fell just short of recording his first career quality start as well as his first win, getting lifted after 92 pitches (56 strikes). The 24-year-old right-hander has given the Marlins at least five innings in each of his outings so far, producing an impressive 3.05 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 19:5 K:BB through 20.2 innings despite a fastball that barely averages 90 mph. It's doubtful he'll be able to keep getting by much longer with smoke and mirrors, but Miami's injury-ravaged rotation will take all the help it can get. Bellozo is scheduled to make his next start on the road early next week in Philadelphia.

  • Bellozo is scheduled to make his next turn through the rotation Wednesday versus the Reds in Miami, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. Called up from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday to help fill the opening in the rotation created by the Marlins trading Trevor Rogers to the Orioles earlier in the week, Bellozo got the job done in his start against Atlanta. He took a no-decision in the Marlins' 5-3 loss, covering five innings and striking out five while allowing two earned runs on two hits and two walks. Bellozo has covered exactly five frames in each of his three starts with Miami this season and has posted a 4.20 ERA and 0.93 WHIP while striking out a batter per inning.
