  • Mets' Jeremiah Jackson: Acquired for Leone
    By RotoWire

The Mets acquired Jackson from the Angels on Tuesday in exchange for Dominic Leone, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. Jackson represents a nice return for a rental reliever, as the infielder was a second-round selection in the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft and had posted a .768 OPS with 15 home runs and 21 steals through 82 games this season at Double-A Rocket City. The 23-year-old infielder will presumably join up with the Double-A affiliate of the Mets in Binghamton.

  • Jackson has gone 1-for-7 with a double, a walk and two RBI in two games since Double-A Rocket City reinstated him from the temporary inactive list Tuesday. Jackson was out of commission for about two weeks while he was on the inactive list, but the missed time shouldn't hinder his development in any significant way.

  • Double-A Rocket City placed Jackson on its temporary inactive list last Tuesday. Jackson was deactivated after he went 0-for-12 with eight strikeouts through his first three games at Rocket City, so it's possible he was sent to the Angels' extended spring training facility in Arizona to address his swing mechanics. The 23-year-old has mainly served as a middle infielder during his minor-league career, but he played exclusively at third base and in center field at Double-A this season before being deactivated.

  • Jackson was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Angels on Tuesday. Jackson spent all of last season with Double-A Rocket City, slashing .215/.308/.404 with 44 RBI across 351 plate appearances. The 22-year-old infield prospect will most likely return to Double-A to begin 2023.
