Cecconi was traded from Arizona to the Guardians on Saturday in exchange for Josh Naylor, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Cecconi appeared in 20 games for the Diamondbacks last season, with 13 of those outings coming as a starter. He put up poor numbers with a 6.66 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 18.9 percent strikeout rate over 77 innings, but his FIP was better at 5.02, and he ranked in the 92nd percentile leaguewide with a 5.0 percent walk rate. Cecconi could begin 2025 at the back end of Cleveland's rotation or continue to serve in a swingman role.

Cecconi was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Thursday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports. Cecconi was recalled Sept. 1 and allowed seven earned runs over 3.2 innings while in the majors. Cecconi has bounced between Reno and Arizona several times this season, so it's possible that he could return to the big leagues in the final days of the regular season.

The Diamondbacks recalled Cecconi from Triple-A Reno prior to Sunday's 14-3 win over the Dodgers. Cecconi has started in 13 of his 17 appearances for the Diamondbacks this season, but with Arizona's rotation at full strength heading into the final month of the season, the right-hander will fill a relief role this time around. He had already made the transition to the bullpen after being sent down to Reno on Aug. 9, striking out 10 while allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits and two walks over 9.2 innings across seven appearances prior to his call-up.

The Diamondbacks optioned Cecconi to Triple-A Reno on Friday. Cecconi threw three innings of relief Thursday and allowed two runs on four hits. However, with the Diamondbacks in need of fresh arms ahead of a three-game series against the Phillies, Cecconi will cede his spot on the active roster to Scott McGough.

The Diamondbacks optioned Cecconi to Triple-A Reno on Thursday. Cecconi allowed three earned runs in four innings during his start Wednesday, raising his ERA to 6.14 to go along with his 1.32 WHIP. The return of Miguel Castro (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list will force Cecconi back to Triple-A, where he's posted a respectable 3.38 ERA in 26.2 innings over five starts. Should the Diamondbacks run into any further trouble with their rotation depth, the 25-year-old may be brought back to Arizona, though a few solid outings in Triple-A would certainly improve his chances.
