  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Reaches three times, scores in win

Torkelson went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Marlins.

The Tigers could only muster four hits as a team, but Torkelson's patience at the plate helped lead to the first run of the game, which was ultimately enough for the win. The Detroit first baseman is known for his power, as he has 28 home runs on the season, though he's also shown an improved batting eye this year. Torkelson's walk rate is currently 11.6 percent, which is up from 8.8 percent during the 2024 regular season and would be a new career best.

  • Oswald Peraza 3B | LAA

Angels' Oswald Peraza: Homers off bench in loss

Peraza went 1-for-1 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 11-2 loss to the Mariners.

Peraza hit his fifth homer of the season and his second as an Angel after coming into the game as a defensive replacement for Yoan Moncada (ankle). If Moncada misses additional time, Peraza could be a candidate to gain playing time at third base moving forward, though he'll have to compete with Luis Rengifo and Chris Taylor. Peraza is slashing a paltry .173/.234/.268 with 19 RBI, 23 runs scored and six stolen bases over 239 plate appearances between the Angels and the Yankees this season.

  • Nick Sogard SS | BOS

Red Sox's Nick Sogard: Idle Sunday

Sogard is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Sogard had started at right field or second base in four of the Red Sox's last five games, but he'll hit the bench Sunday while Rob Refsnyder and Romy Gonzalez occupy those respective positions. Since being called up from Triple-A Worcester on Sept. 3, Sogard has gone 7-for-21 with two doubles, two runs, one stolen base and four RBI in six games. He could continue to see fairly steady at-bats until the Red Sox get Wilyer Abreu (calf) back from the injured list.

  • Angels' Logan Davidson: Making fifth straight start

Davidson will start at first base and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Davidson will draw his fifth straight start at first base after going 3-for-15 with a home run and a double over the past four games. The Angels appear content to give Davidson a look in a near-everyday role at the position until Nolan Schanuel (wrist) is cleared to make his return from the injured list.

  • Oswald Peraza 3B | LAA

Angels' Oswald Peraza: Losing out on everyday role

Peraza is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Peraza will take a seat for the second day in a row and for the third time in four games. Though Peraza had earned regular starts at first base to begin the month, he appears to have since been supplanted by Logan Davidson as the Angels' top option at the position.

  • Jake Burger 3B | TEX

Rangers' Jake Burger: Taking seat Sunday

Burger is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Burger started the previous nine games and will receive a day off after posting a .953 OPS with four homers during that span. Rowdy Tellez will instead start at first base in the series finale for Texas.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Remaining on bench Sunday

Mountcastle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

It's the second straight game on the bench for Mountcastle, who has gone 2-for-19 with nine strikeouts in his past five contests. Coby Mayo is receiving another start at first base Sunday for Baltimore.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | TEX

Rangers' Rowdy Tellez: Delivers key hit in win

Tellez went 1-for-1 with a ground-rule double and an RBI in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Mets.

Tellez entered as a pinch hitter in the top of the ninth inning and belted a two-out, ground-rule double to produce the go-ahead run and complete Texas' comeback. Since Jake Burger's return in early September, Tellez's regular gig at first base has disappeared. Saturday's appearance was his fifth straight as a pinch hitter.

  • Nick Kurtz 1B | ATH

Athletics' Nick Kurtz: Mammoth slam in win

Kurtz went 1-for-5 with a grand slam in Saturday's 11-5 win over the Reds.

Kurtz launched a 493-foot slam -- the longest homer in the majors this year -- in the eighth inning, giving the Athletics plenty of breathing room after a quiet first four plate appearances. He's popped five homers over his last 14 games, adding 10 RBI and 13 runs scored in that span. The rookie first baseman is up to 31 long balls, 78 RBI, 78 runs scored, two stolen bases, 24 doubles and two triples while maintaining a .298/.391/.622 slash line across 104 contests.

  • Coby Mayo 3B | BAL

Orioles' Coby Mayo: Swats eighth homer Saturday

Mayo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday in a loss to the Blue Jays.

Mayo produced what at the time seemed like a big insurance run for Baltimore when he clubbed a 403-foot solo shot in the top of the ninth inning. That tally ultimately proved to be inadequate, however, as Toronto rallied for three runs in the bottom frame for a walk-off win. Mayo nonetheless had a promising performance, as he logged his first two-hit game since Aug. 6. In the 28 contests between such efforts, he batted a meager .141 with a 38.9 percent strikeout rate.
