Orioles general manager Mike Elias said Tuesday that Mountcastle (wrist) is expected to begin a rehab assignment by the end of the week and could return from the 10-day injured list before the end of the regular season, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

The 27-year-old has been sidelined since Aug. 22 due to a sprained left wrist, but he's on the cusp of returning to game action. The Orioles begin their final road trip of the regular season next Tuesday against the Yankees, and Mountcastle should rejoin the big club at some point during that six-game stretch after getting some at-bats in the minors.

Soderstrom went 2-for-4 in a loss to the Cubs on Monday.

Soderstrom had gone 0-for-7 in his first two games back from the injured list, but he was able to break the ice Monday by generating one of the Athletics' trio of two-hit efforts. Soderstrom is slated to continue seeing everyday playing time at first base for what remains of the regular season, ahead of what figures to be a pivotal offseason for his development.

Schanuel went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Monday's 8-4 loss to the White Sox.

Schanuel has made speed a part of his game late in the year, logging four steals during his active seven-game hitting streak. He stole a total of three bases over 51 contests after joining the professional ranks in the second half of 2023, but he's up to nine thefts over 139 games this year. The first baseman has added a .252/.344/.365 slash line, 51 RBI, 13 home runs and 59 runs scored in a near-everyday role.

Wagaman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 8-4 loss to the White Sox.

Wagaman has picked up steady playing time since joining the Angels on Sept. 10. He's started five straight games at third base in the absence of Brandon Drury (hamstring), including four times versus right-handed pitchers. Wagaman has hit .200 (4-for-20), though all four of his hits have gone for extra bases (one homer, three doubles).

Vaughn went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an RBI triple and a walk in Monday's 8-4 win over the Angels.

Vaughn's bat remains scorching hot -- he has seven multi-hit efforts over his last 10 games. In that span, he's gone 16-for-41 (.390) with three homers and seven RBI. The first baseman continues to see steady playing time between first base and designated hitter. He's slashing .248/.301/.410 with 18 homers, 66 RBI, 53 runs scored, two stolen bases, 29 doubles and one triple across 138 games this season.

Singleton (illness) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game in San Diego, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Singleton had to be scratched from Sunday's lineup due to illness and is still absent Monday. It's not clear whether he will be available off the bench. Yainer Diaz will handle first base while Victor Caratini does the catching against the Padres.

Santana went 3-for-4 on Sunday with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored against the Reds.

Santana homered and doubled to finish just a triple shy of the cycle. The 15-year-vet's two-run blast in the seventh doubled the Twins' lead and served as the springboard to a five-run inning that sealed the game. Santana is now batting 8-for-18 (.444) with two homers, a double, six RBI and six runs scored during a modest five-game hitting streak.

Singleton was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels due to an illness, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Victor Caratini will step in at first base and bat fifth in place of Singleton, who will wind up hitting the bench for a third straight game after going 3-for-4 with two doubles in his last start Thursday versus the Athletics. The lefty-hitting Singleton should see the bulk of the starts at first base against right-handed pitching over the final two weeks of the season.

Rizzo is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Rizzo started the previous 10 games but will hit the bench Sunday after going 5-for-33 with one double and four walks during that span. Oswaldo Cabrera will take over at first base and bat eighth in the series finale versus Boston.

Casas is absent from Sunday's lineup against the Yankees, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

The lefty-hitting Casas will begin Sunday's game in the dugout with the Yankees sending southpaw Carlos Rodon to the mound. Connor Wong will start at first base and bat fifth.
