Turner has reached base safely in eight consecutive contests and in 12 straight starts overall, mustering a .279/.407/.535 slash line with five extra-base hits, five RBI, 10 runs and a modest 13.0 percent strikeout rate over his last 54 plate appearances.

Athletics' Tyler Nevin: Smacks seventh homer
Nevin went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Astros.
Nevin gave the A's some life in the ninth inning with an opposite-field blast off Josh Hader, cutting Houston's lead to 6-3. It's Nevin's first home run since July 6 -- he'd gone just 9-for-62 (.145) with a .419 OPS in 26 games coming into Thursday. The 27-year-old Nevin is slashing .196/.287/.329 through 251 plate appearances this season with seven homers, 18 RBI and 20 runs scored while being limited to the occasional start against left-handed pitching.

Jonathan Singleton DH | HOU
Astros' Jon Singleton: Three hits, two doubles in win
Singleton went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI in Thursday's 6-3 win over Oakland.
It's the first multi-hit game in over a month for Singleton -- he'd gone just 10-for-46 (.217) in his previous 20 contests, though he posted a solid .858 OPS with four home runs in that span. Lowe went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Mariners.
Lowe was instrumental in the Rangers' come-from-behind win. He homered to lead off the seventh inning, closing the gap to 4-2, then he delivered the game-winning run with a single in the eighth. It's been a good month for Lowe, who's batting .375 (12-for-32) with a 1.094 OPS, two home runs, seven RBI, eight walks and four runs scored over 11 contests.

Spencer Torkelson 1B | DET
Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Drives in runs Thursday
Torkelson went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and two RBI in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Rockies.
Torkelson dealt with an illness recently, but he appears to be recovered and ready to keep contributing for the Tigers. Since returning to the majors on Aug. 17, the 25-year-old is batting .253 with 13 RBI in 24 games. Torkelson is still bit of a streaky performer, though he's a legitimate power threat when he's locked in. Expect him to continue receiving regular playing time during the final few weeks of the year.

Triston Casas 1B | BOS
Red Sox's Triston Casas: Idle versus lefty
Casas isn't in Boston's lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
The lefty-hitting Casas will sit down to begin Thursday's series opener as southpaw Nestor Cortes slated to toe the slab for New York. Connor Wong will fill the void at first base while Danny Jansen starts behind the plate and bats eighth.

Tyler Soderstrom C | ATH
Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Set to return this weekend
Soderstrom (wrist) will be activated from the 10-day injured list for this weekend's series against the White Sox, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Soderstrom has gone 8-for-16 with three home runs in five rehab games with Triple-A Las Vegas to show the Athletics he's ready. He's been sidelined since early July with a stress reaction in his left wrist. Soderstrom should be in line for regular reps at first base with Oakland upon activation.

Ryan Noda 1B | BAL
Athletics' Ryan Noda: Sitting against southpaw
Noda is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Houston.
The left-handed-hitting Noda started at first base in both of the first two games of the series with righties on the mound for the Astros, but he'll take a seat as southpaw Framber Valdez goes to the hill in the finale. Tyler Nevin will play first base and bat seventh for Oakland.

Jonathan Aranda 1B | TB
Rays' Jonathan Aranda: Swats second homer
Aranda went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Phillies.
The 26-year-old took Zack Wheeler deep in the sixth inning, briefly tying the game at 2-2 and giving Aranda his second homer of the season in 85 plate appearances. Aranda may be moving into a regular role for the Rays -- he's started five of the last six games, four at first base and one at second base, and gone 5-for-18 (.278) over that stretch with three doubles, a homer and a 3:4 BB:K. Tampa Bay has fallen seven games off the pace in the battle for the final wild-card spot in the AL with 16 games left to play, so the team is likely to continue giving a long look to unproven players like Aranda to evaluate their place in the franchise's future plans.
