Ty France 1B | TOR
Mariners' Ty France: Back from paternity list
The Mariners reinstated France (personal) from the paternity list Monday.
The 29-year-old was away from the team for the three-game series in Milwaukee in order to be with his family, but he's active ahead of Monday's series opener at Toronto. France will return to his starting spot at first base against the Blue Jays.

Ryan Mountcastle 1B | BAL
Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Two doubles in three-hit effort
Mountcastle went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Pirates.
Mountcastle had cooled off entering Sunday, going 1-for-16 over his previous four games before breaking out of the slump. He was involved in both of the Orioles' runs, hitting an RBI double and coming around to score on an Anthony Santander single in the fourth inning. Mountcastle is batting .294 with a home runs, eight RBI, four runs scored, five doubles and a 4:7 BB:K over nine contests. He looks to have a steady role at first base and a spot in the heart of the order.

Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL
White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Hits not falling
Vaughn went 1-for-4 with a walk and three strikeouts Sunday against the Royals.
Despite his three punchouts in Sunday's game, Vaughn has struck out at only a 20 percent clip this season. He's still hitting only .194 across 35 plate appearances, a mark that should improve over time. More concerning is Vaughn's lack of power, as he has zero extra-base hits and has yet to barrel a ball across 24 batted-ball events.

Austin Shenton 1B | SEA
Rays' Austin Shenton: Secures first career hit and RBI
Shenton went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a run scored in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Rockies.
After drawing his first major-league start Monday, Shenton broke through for his first MLB hit Sunday, driving in Jose Caballero with an RBI double off Dakota Hudson in the top of the second inning. He later came around to score off a single from Jose Siri in the frame while also adding another base knock himself in top of the ninth. Shenton currently doesn't have a direct path to consistent playing time, but his positional flexibility makes him a valuable utility option off the bench for Tampa Bay.

Jose Abreu 1B | HOU
Astros' Jose Abreu: Out of lineup Sunday
Abreu is out of the lineup for Sunday's matchup against the Rangers, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Abreu will get a break Sunday as Jon Singleton will take the field at first base. The veteran infielder has seen the plate 28 times this year, slashing .077/.143/.077 with only two hits and two runs. Abreu's starting spot could be in question eventually if the offensive struggles continue, especially with Triple-A prospect Joey Loperfido pushing for his major league debut.

Vinnie Pasquantino 1B | KC
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Getting first day off
Pasquantino is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
The 26-year-old will get his first day off of the 2024 season while Salvador Perez steps in for him at first base. After his 2023 campaign was cut short in June due to surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, Pasquantino was fully cleared ahead of spring training but has struggled out of the gate to begin the campaign. Through nine games, Pasquantino is slashing .121/.216/.121 with no extra-base hits and a 13.5 percent strikeout rate over 37 plate appearances.

Ty France 1B | TOR
Mariners' Ty France: Rejoining team Monday
Mariners manager Scott Servais confirmed that France (personal) is in line to rejoin the team in Toronto on Monday for the start of a three-game series with the Blue Jays, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Expect Seattle to officially reinstate France from the paternity list Monday after he was away from the club for the entirety of the three-game series in Milwaukee this weekend while welcoming a new child into his family. Dylan Moore made two starts at first base, and Luke Raley made the other in France's stead.

Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY
Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Clubs first homer
Rizzo went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer in New York's win over the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Rizzo finally joined the party in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run shot off Mitch White to score Aaron Judge and increase New York's lead to six runs. It was the first baseman's first home run of the season and he's now hit safely in three straight games after starting the month 0-for-7.

Jose Abreu 1B | HOU
Astros' Jose Abreu: Slipping down order
Abreu has hit seventh in the Astros' lineup in consecutive games, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Abreu has only two hits in his first 28 plate appearances of the season, and he's recently hit behind both Yainer Diaz and Chas McCormick. His slip down the order began Friday with the Astros facing a lefty, but he remained in the same position for right-hander Jon Gray on Saturday. While it's been a poor start to the season, Abreu should remain a regular in the lineup due to the limited number of alternatives Houston has at first base, unless the team opts to promote impressive prospect Joey Loperfido.

Triston Casas 1B | BOS
Red Sox's Triston Casas: Launches first homer
Casas went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 8-6 win over the Angels.
Casas launched his first homer of the season, and the second of back-to-back blasts in the second inning, contributing to Boston's early 4-0 lead. After a cool 1-for-15 start, Casas has hit safely in four straight, going 6-for-15 with two extra-base hits, three walks, two RBI and three runs scored.
