  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Smacks fifth postseason homer

Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Game 4 of the ALCS on Thursday against the Mariners.

Guerrero provided an insurance run for the Blue Jays in the seventh inning with his fifth postseason home run. He's been a key to Toronto's success in the ALCS, going 6-for-9 with two homers, two doubles and four runs scored in his last two games.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Four hits in Game 3 rout

Guerrero went 4-for-4 with a solo home run, two additional runs scored and a walk during Wednesday's 13-4 win against Seattle in Game 3 of the ALCS.

After collecting nine hits against the Yankees in the ALDS, Guerrero had gone hitless through Toronto's first two games against the Mariners. He returned to form with his performance Wednesday, which was highlighted by a 406-foot blast against George Kirby in the fifth inning. The first baseman has been one of the most prolific hitters in the postseason this year, slashing .464/.515/.964 with four homers, 10 RBI and eight runs scored through seven games.

  • Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt: In Game 4 lineup

Goldschmidt will start at first base and bat sixth Wednesday in Game 4 of the ALDS against the Blue Jays.

It will be Goldschmidt's first start of the series and just his second start so far this postseason. Right-handed reliever Louis Varland is serving as the opener in what will be a bullpen game for the Blue Jays.

  • Ben Rice C | NYY

Yankees' Ben Rice: Retreating to bench

Rice is not in the lineup Wednesday for Game 4 of the ALDS versus the Blue Jays.

The Yankees are turning to Paul Goldschmidt at first base as the Blue Jays go with a bullpen game. Rice is 4-for-18 with one home run, four RBI and a 1:8 BB:K across five games this postseason.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Monster postseason continues

Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a walk, a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Yankees in Game 3 of the American League Division Series.

Guerrero smacked a two-run shot in the first inning and scored on an impressive head-first slide in the third. Despite his best efforts to put them away, the Yankees rallied from a 6-1 deficit to win the game and stay alive in the series. The 26-year-old Guerrero is now batting .615 this postseason (8-for-13) as he makes good on all the hype and promise that accompanied his arrival to the major leagues.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Mariners' Josh Naylor: In lineup for ALDS Game 3

Naylor (personal) will start at first base and bat fifth Tuesday in Game 3 of the ALDS versus the Tigers.

Naylor's availability for Game 3 had been in question, as he did not travel with the Mariners to Detroit while he and his wife were expecting the birth of their first child. He has since rejoined the team and is in the lineup as the series moves to Detroit. Naylor is 0-for-8 with a 1:1 BB:K in the first two games of the ALDS.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Mariners' Josh Naylor: Status for Games 3 and 4 uncertain

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said Monday that Naylor is with his expecting wife and it's uncertain whether the first baseman will be available for ALDS Games 3 and 4 in Detroit, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Naylor did not travel with the team as he and his wife await the birth of their first child. He could be placed on the paternity list, which would make him unavailable for 1-to-3 games, but it does not seem to be a given that a move will be made. Luke Raley or Eugenio Suarez could fill in at first base if Naylor has to miss time. If it's Suarez who is used at first base, the Mariners would likely install Ben Williamson at third base. Naylor has gone 0-for-8 with a 1:1 BB:K in the first two games of the ALDS versus the Tigers.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Not guaranteed 1B job in 2026

Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow on Monday would not commit to Casas (knee) being the team's starting first baseman next season, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Breslow also noted that while Casas is "doing really well" in his recovery from surgery in May to repair a ruptured patellar tendon in his left knee, he could not guarantee the 25-year-old will be ready in time for Opening Day. If healthy, Casas is the heavy favorite to break camp as Boston's primary first baseman, but the Red Sox are keeping their options open at this early juncture of the offseason. Injuries have limited Casas to just 92 games over the last two seasons, and he slashed only .182/.277/.303 across 29 contests in 2025 before his knee injury.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Launches grand slam in Game 2

Guerrero went 3-for-5 with a grand slam and two runs scored in Sunday's 13-7 win over the Yankees in Game 2 of the ALDS.

Guerrero singled in the first and third innings, coming around to score following the latter hit on a double by Daulton Varsho. The first baseman then made his biggest mark on the game in bottom of the fourth, launching a one-out grand slam off Will Warren, giving Toronto a 9-0 lead. Guerrero has now gone 6-for-9 with two home runs, six RBI and three runs scored over the first two games of the ALDS.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Mariners' Josh Naylor: Starting in Game 1

Naylor (groin) will start at first base and bat fourth in Saturday's ALDS Game 1 matchup against the Tigers.

Groin soreness kept Naylor out of the lineup for the Mariners' final two regular-season games, but he's now feeling well enough to rejoin the starting nine for the beginning of the ALDS. The 28-year-old may still have to miss time during the series, however, as his wife is expected to go into labor in the very near future.
