  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Out of Sunday's lineup

Diaz is not in the lineup Sunday against the Phillies, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Diaz is 2-for-21 with six walks over his past six games and will take a seat versus right-hander Zach Eflin. Ji-Man Choi will start at first base while Randy Arozarena serves as the designated hitter Sunday.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Cranks 11th homer

Abreu went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in the win over the Orioles in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader.

Abreu slammed his 11th home run of the season off John Means with two outs in the fifth inning to extend the White Sox's lead. This came after he plated three runs in the first game of the doubleheader. The first baseman leads the team in home runs and 45 RBI. He is slashing .271/.357/.518 in 198 appearances. Abreu has 10 RBI in his last five games.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Scratched from Saturday's lineup

Gurriel was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Padres due to left middle finger inflammation, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Taylor Jones will enter the lineup at first base Saturday. Gurriel had started in each of the last 12 games, but it's not yet clear whether his finger injury will force him to miss additional time.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Returns to lineup

Mountcastle (hand) will bat sixth and serve as the designated hitter Saturday against the White Sox, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Mountcastle hasn't played since getting hit in the hand Tuesday against the Twins. He wasn't going to be in the lineup Friday, but that game got postponed due to inclement weather. The extra day of rest is apparently all he needed to get healthy.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Still sitting Friday

Mountcastle (hand) remains on the bench Friday against the White Sox.

Mountcastle left Tuesday's game against the Twins after getting hit in the hand by a pitch. He's yet to play since then, but he's feeling better and could return to the lineup over the weekend, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: Sent to Triple-A

O'Hearn was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Friday.

O'Hearn had been on the active roster for over a month but didn't do much with his playing time. In 57 plate appearances, he hit just .189/.246/.377 while striking out 35.1 percent of the time. Hunter Dozier (concussion) returned from the injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Sitting Friday

Dalbec will sit Friday against the Marlins, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

He could be set to sit more frequently going forward due to the arrival of Danny Santana, who gets the start at first base Friday, but Dalbec doesn't look as though he'll be stuck in a bench role. Three of Santana's five starts have come in center field.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: Homers off bench

O'Hearn went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 7-2 loss to Tampa Bay.

With Kansas City trailing 7-0 after four innings, manager Mike Matheny turned to his bench. O'Hearn replaced Carlos Santana at first base, and the former ended up providing the team's only offense Thursday. The 27-year-old has three homers, six RBI and six runs scored in 57 plate appearances this year. O'Hearn isn't likely to displace Santana or Jorge Soler from the lineup, so he'll remain in a bench role.

  • Evan White 1B | LAA

Mariners' Evan White: Resumes baseball activities

White (hip) will resume baseball activities Thursday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

White has been on the injured list since May 14 due to a hip flexor issue, but he'll participate in some cage work Thursday. A timetable for his return to game action hasn't yet been established, but it's encouraging to see him resume activities.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Remains out of lineup

Mountcastle (hand) isn't starting Thursday's game against the White Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Mountcastle will miss a second straight game due to a bruised left hand. However, he'll take swings in the batting cage Thursday and could be available off the bench if needed, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Anthony Santander will serve as the designated hitter while DJ Stewart starts in right field.
