  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Athletics' Matt Olson: Slugs two-run blast

Olson went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in a win over the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

Olson boosted the Athletics' lead to 3-0 with his 385-foot blast to right field in the fourth inning, a homer that plated Mark Canha. The slugger snapped a brief 0-for-10 skid that had encompassed his last three games with what was his ninth round tripper of the season, but his .170 average over 113 plate appearances has plenty of room for improvement.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Day off Friday

Tellez is not starting Friday's game against the Rays.

Tellez cleared the concussion protocol and started the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Phillies, going 3-for-4 with a homer. He'll get a day off Friday, with Teoscar Hernandez serving as the designated hitter.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Set for big-league debut

Mountcastle will be recalled by the Orioles on Friday for his major-league debut, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Mountcastle doesn't offer much other than his bat, but his bat is strong enough to make him an interesting prospect nonetheless. He entered pro ball as a shortstop but spent the majority of last season at first base and left field, with a bit of third base mixed in. He should have the chance to hit for enough power and average to be useful even at those positions, as he hit .312 with 25 homers in 127 games for Triple-A Norfolk last season. There are questions about his approach, however, as he owns a career 4.5 percent walk rate as a professional. It's possible that will hold back the rest of his numbers at the big-league level, but it's also possible that it hurts his stock in on-base percentage leagues without affecting him too much in standard formats as long as he keeps making both frequent and strong contact. His exact role this season remains to be seen, but the Orioles don't have many players with locked-in roles, so he should find his way to plenty of at-bats.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Tallies two doubles, two RBI

Abreu went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a single, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 9-0 win over Detroit.

After already recording a pair of hits on the day, Abreu capped his game off with a two-run double to give the White Sox a 7-0 lead in the eighth. The first baseman has now hit safely in five straight. He will bring a .292 batting average and 19 RBI into Friday's game against the Cubs.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Drives in three

Tellez went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored in the second game of the Blue Jays' doubleheader Thursday against the Phillies.

Tellez had a busy sixth inning, leading off the frame with a solo home run against Vince Velasquez. He came up again after the Blue Jays batted around and delivered the game-winning runs with a two-RBI single. Tellez had missed the team's past three games after taking an elbow to the head, but showed no ill effects in his return to action. Overall, Tellez has four home runs to go along with 13 RBI and nine runs scored.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Belts first homer

Diaz went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer, double and two runs scored in Thursday's 10-5 win over the Yankees.

It took Diaz 104 plate appearances, but the third baseman finally hit his first homer of the season in Thursday's ninth inning. Despite his lack of success with the long ball thus far, Diaz has remained a threat in a deep Tampa Bay lineup. He will bring a slash line of .276/.394/.345 into the weekend series against Toronto.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Homers in fourth straight

Voit went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, two singles, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 10-5 loss to the Rays.

Voit continued his tear at the plate Thursday, with his first-inning homer making it four straight games with a long ball for the first baseman. The slugger also added an RBI single in the sixth. Voit has 10 homers and 20 RBI and is slashing .311/.386/.730 on the season.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Twins' LaMonte Wade: Recalled by Twins

Wade was recalled from the Twins' alternate training site Thursday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.

Wade was sent down by the Twins at the beginning of August, but he'll return to the major-league roster after Byron Buxton (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list. The 26-year-old appeared in just one game as a defensive replacement during his first stint with the team but could see slightly more playing time in the coming days with Buxton sidelined.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Back in action for second game

Tellez (head) is starting the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Phillies.

Tellez was held out of the first game of Thursday's twin bill, but he'll return to the starting nine at first base for Game 2. Although he missed three consecutive games, he's reportedly feeling better and should be available going forward as long as he doesn't experience any setbacks.

  • Evan White 1B | LAA

Mariners' Evan White: Not starting Thursday

White (knee) is not in the lineup Thursday against the Dodgers, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

White fouled a ball off his knee during Wednesday's game, and while X-rays came back negative, the issue will keep him sidelined for at least one game. Austin Nola is covering first base in his stead Thursday.
