Yankees' Luke Voit: Clubs 11th homer

Voit went 3-for-4 with a double and a solo home run Friday night against the Rays.

The 28-year-old cut Tampa Bay's deficit to one in the ninth inning with a solo homer to right center before Gio Urshela won the ballgame on a single to center. Voit had been struggling at the dish entering the night (he was hitless over his last six games), so a three-hit performance could be just what he needs to turn things around. He's slashing .255/.372/.503 with 11 homers and 33 RBI through 42 contests in 2019.

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Returns to lineup

Diaz will start Friday against the Yankees after leaving Wednesday's game against the Marlins with ankle discomfort, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Diaz appeared to roll his ankle while running the bases, but the issue never appeared to be a particularly significant one. He's healed up enough to play following Thursday's off day and will lead off and play first base in Friday's contest.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Twins' C.J. Cron: Hits 10th homer

Cron went 4-for-5 with a two-run home run and a run scored in the Twins' 11-6 victory over the Mariners on Thursday.

As the Twins exploded for 11 runs, Cron had a big day at the dish, bagging his 10th long ball of the season with a fourth-inning solo shot off Erik Swanson. The big right-hander got off to a slow start to the season, but he's turned it on of late, and his slash line is now up to .259/.323/.504 through 139 at-bats.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Athletics' Matt Olson: Smacks solo homer

Olson went 2-for-6 with a solo home run and two runs scored Thursday against the Tigers.

Olson took Blaine Hardy deep in the sixth inning for his third home run of the season. While he went 4-for-20 across his first five starts after being activated from the injured list, Olson has since homered in three of his last four games. While 13 strikeouts across his 47 plate appearances this season has kept Olson's batting average to a .214 mark, his power production is certainly returning to form.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Takes seat Thursday

Tellez is not in the lineup Thursday against the White Sox.

Tellez will take a seat for Thursday's series opener against the White Sox while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. gets a turn at designated hitter. Since the beginning of May, Tellez is hitting .267/.298/.400 with a homer and a 34 percent strikeout rate in 12 games.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Angels' Kole Calhoun: Expected back Friday

Calhoun (personal) will be reinstated from the paternity list ahead of Friday's series opener against the Royals.

Luis Rengifo was sent back to the minors following Wednesday's game against the Twins to free up a roster spot for Calhoun, who will rejoin the Angels after missing a pair of games attending the birth of his child. Calhoun, who is hitting .238/.323/.490 with nine homers and a pair of stolen bases on the season, should immediately rejoin the lineup against right-hander Brad Keller on Friday.

  • Rangers' Asdrubal Cabrera: Sitting out Thursday

Cabrera is out of the lineup for the Thursday's game against the Royals, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

The 33-year-old will receive some routine maintenance for the day game after the night game, with Logan Forsythe spelling him at third base. Cabrera had started each of the Rangers' last 13 games, slashing .222/.327/.356 over that span.

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Hoping to play Friday

Diaz said he was dealing with some pain in his ankle but hopes to play Friday against the Yankees, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Tweaks ankle Wednesday

Diaz left Wednesday's game at Miami due to left ankle discomfort, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Diaz was removed for the bottom of the seventh inning, but the injury appeared to occur earlier in the game when he made a late stop running the bases between third and home. The 28-year-old will have a full day to recover with Thursday's scheduled off day and should be considered day-to-day ahead of this weekend's series against the Yankees.
