  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yulieski Gurriel: Back in action Monday

Gurriel (knee) is starting at DH and batting sixth Monday against the Mariners, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Gurriel is back in action after missing five games while nursing a knee issue. The 33-year-old was able to get through Monday's workouts without any issues, clearing the way for him to rejoin the starting nine. Carlos Beltran (back) remains sidelined as Gurriel takes over as DH.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Athletics' Matt Olson: Lone bright spot in blowout loss

Olson went 2-for-3 with a run-scoring single and a solo home run in Sunday's 10-2 loss to the Mariners.

The mashing rookie was responsible for all of the Athletics' runs on the day. Olson has found his power stroke, smacking four round trippers in the last six games and driving in eight runs during that stretch. After a slow start, he's now raised his season average an impressive 48 points to .248 since Aug. 14.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Indians' Yandy Diaz: Fills stat sheet against Tigers

Diaz went 2-for-4 with an RBI, one run and two walks in Sunday's lopsided 11-1 victory over Detroit.

Considering Diaz has started 10 of 13 games since being recalled on Aug. 22, he appears to have officially usurped Giovanny Urshela on the team's depth chart. The former is 12-for-32 (.375) with seven RBI, eight runs and 11 walks during his second stint with the big-league club this year. As long as Jason Kipnis (hamstring) remains out, Diaz should be a safe play at third base while Jose Ramirez continues to cover second.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Homers in return to lineup

Abreu went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.

Abreu missed the previous three games with an elbow injury, but Sunday's blast affirmed his health. With a .301/.354/.540 slash line, 27 homers, 82 RBI and 72 runs for the campaign, the 30-year-old first baseman is in line to post another rock-solid showing. The supporting cast surrounding him in the White Sox's lineup limits his upside, but the slugger continues to move the fantasy needle nonetheless.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yulieski Gurriel: Sidelined for Sunday contest

Gurriel (knee) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mets.

He'll be on the bench for a fifth consecutive contest with a sore right knee, but the Astros are optimistic that the first baseman won't be sidelined for much longer. According to Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle, manager A.J. Hinch indicated that if Gurriel can make it through workouts Monday without incident, the 33-year-old will rejoin the starting nine later that evening in the Astros' series opener in Seattle.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Rejoins lineup Sunday

Abreu (elbow) will serve as the White Sox's designated hitter and bat third Sunday against the Rays.

Abreu was initially scheduled to hit the bench for a fourth straight game due to the elbow issue, but after Tyler Saladino was scratched with a sore left wrist, the slugger will rejoin the starting nine earlier than expected. The White Sox will ease Abreu back in by deploying him at DH, but it shouldn't be long before he takes back his normal duties at first base. Prior to missing time with the injury, Abreu was enjoying one of his most productive stretches of the season, finishing August with a .324/.370/.595 slash line.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Angels' C.J. Cron: Hits clutch homer Saturday

Cron went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's comeback victory over the Rangers.

Cron got off to a rough start with three strikeouts in his first three plate appearances, but he totally redeemed himself with a game-tying two-run shot in the ninth inning. The 27-year-old added a sacrifice fly in a three-run 10th inning that sealed the deal for the Halos. Saturday's late heroics provided a snapshot of Cron's 2017 campaign, where he got off to a slow start before exploding in the second half. The slugging first baseman is batting .299 with 10 homers and 30 RBI since the All-Star break.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yulieski Gurriel: Remains out for second game of twin bill

Gurriel (knee) remains out of the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets.

Tyler White will step in at first base against Seth Lugo in the nightcap after Marwin Gonzalez manned the position in place of Gurriel in Game 1. This marks Gurriel's fourth straight absence and his availability for Sunday is uncertain.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Out of Saturday's lineup

Abreu (elbow) is out of Saturday's lineup against the Rays.

He will miss his third game in a row after tweaking his elbow in Wednesday's game. Matt Davidson draws another start at first base, batting cleanup, and Rob Brantly will get a rare start at DH, hitting seventh.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yulieski Gurriel: Out for Game 1

Gurriel (knee) is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

He will miss his third game in a row with right knee soreness. Marwin Gonzalez will get the start at first base and hit fifth. Tyler White was also recalled thanks to expanding rosters for added first base depth.
