  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Two hits and two RBI in Sunday's loss

Abreu went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's loss to the Marlins.

He continues to try making up for lost time in August, as Abreu is now slashing .385/.418/.635 on the month with three home runs and nine RBI in 12 games. It's been a very disappointing season for the slugger, but he might still have just enough time left to salvage his numbers with a late power surge.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Indians' Carlos Santana: Returns to lineup Sunday

Santana (head) is back in the lineup Sunday against the Angels, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports. He'll play first base and serve as the Indians' leadoff hitter.

Santana left Thursday's game with a head contusion and was held out of the lineup for the subsequent two contests, but he cleared all concussion tests and was available off the bench Saturday. He's now apparently ready for full-time duty and should be a mainstay in the lineup for the Indians over the final month and a half of the regular season.

  • Chris Parmelee 1B | MIA

Yankees' Chris Parmelee: Outrighted to Triple-A

Parmelee (hamstring) was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list Saturday and outrighted to Triple-A.

The veteran had been out on a rehab assignment since early August and the club deemed him healthy enough to come off the DL on Saturday, but the Yankees also took him off their 40-man roster. He has slashed .255/.339/.448 at Triple-A this season.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Indians' Carlos Santana: Cleared to play, will be available off bench Saturday

Santana (head) is not in the lineup Saturday, but he has been cleared to play and he'll be available off the bench, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

This is encouraging news for Santana given that he was a candidate to land on the 7-day concussion DL as of Friday evening. While he'll likely get the full day off Saturday, it's still a positive that he'll be available off the bench if need be. With Santana's medical clearance, there's a distinct possibility that he'll be able to draw back into the lineup Sunday.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Indians' Carlos Santana: Remains under observation for possible concussion

Santana (head) was able to partake in some pregame activities Friday but the team still hasn't ruled out the possibility of placing him on the 7-day DL, MLB.com reports.

Santana may avoid landing on the DL with a concussion but he's still not a sure bet to return over the weekend. A lot will depend on how he reacts to an increase in activity over the next couple of days.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Angels' C.J. Cron: Begins rehab assignment Friday

Cron will begin his rehab assignment at Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

With this latest news, it seems likely that Cron will be back in action with the Angels by the end of next week. Before getting injured, Cron was posting a career-best line of .278/.333/.475. Until he returns, Jefry Marte is expected to continue starting at first for the Angels.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Indians' Carlos Santana: Out of Friday's lineup

Santana (head) is out of the lineup Friday against the Angels, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Santana will have the night off after he was hit by a line drive Thursday. Cleveland is expected to update his status before Friday's game, so more information regarding his recovery and eventual return should be available soon. Mike Napoli will start at first base during Santana's absence.

  • Chris Parmelee 1B | MIA

Yankees' Chris Parmelee: On rehab assignment

Parmelee (hamstring) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last week, the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader reports.

Parmelee has been sidelined since early June with a hamstring strain, but he appears to be nearing a return as he's worked his way up to minor league action for five games. He's racked up four hits -- including a home run -- in that span. It's unclear if the first baseman will rejoin the major league club when he's ready, but even if he is kept in the minors, Parmelee will likely get another chance in the big leagues when the rosters expand in September.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Indians' Carlos Santana: Leaves game with head contusion

Santana exited Thursday's game with a head contusion, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports.

According to Bastian, Santana was struck on the side of the head with a line drive during Thursday's game against the Angels and had to leave the contest. There's no word yet on whether Santana will miss additional time, but he figures to undergo further testing given the nature of his injury. If Santana is given the day off Friday, Mike Napoli could take over at first base with Brandon Guyer filling in at DH.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Surging at Double-A

Tellez, 21, is batting .342 with three home runs and eight RBI in his last 10 games for Double-A New Hampshire.

The recent surge pushes Tellez's slash line up to .296/.389/.507 on the season. He has 16 home runs in 98 games, already surpassing his previous career high in home runs set in 2015. His stock is on the rise in the Toronto organization.
