  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Braves' Yuli Gurriel: Will be re-introduced to third base

Gurriel will begin to play some third base at Triple-A Gwinnett, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Gurriel is 40 and hasn't started a game at the hot corner since 2019, but Atlanta wants him prepared to play the position, if needed, following the injury to Austin Riley (hand). Signed to a minor-league contract in April, Gurriel is slashing .300/.380/.498 with 12 home runs over 72 games with Gwinnett.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Starting Monday after all

Freeman (finger) is in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Mariners, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Freeman was expected to miss Monday's matchup and potentially a few more days after suffering an injury Saturday and missing Sunday's game. Despite being diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his right middle finger, he's been penciled into the starting lineup for the series opener. Skipper Dave Roberts noted in his pregame remarks that Freeman remaining in the starting nine going forward will be all about pain tolerance, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Diamondbacks' Josh Bell: Getting night off

Bell is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Bell will take a seat for the first time since joining the Diamondbacks, giving way to Pavin Smith at first base. Bell had started 16 consecutive games for Arizona, going 15-for-64 (.234) with four homers. However, he's 0-for-14 in his last four games.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Will miss more time

Freeman (finger) will miss at least Monday's game and could be out for a few additional days, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Freeman jammed his finger Saturday and was held out of the lineup Sunday. He is set to undergo a CT scan on his finger Monday, which should give more clarity for a timeline for his return. Manager Dave Roberts didn't give additional details, though it sounds as if the first baseman could be in danger of missing the Dodgers' series against Seattle.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Sitting versus southpaw

Wade is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the A's, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Wade is mired in a 2-for-19 slump and will head to the bench Sunday as lefty JP Sears takes the mound for Oakland. Mark Canha is starting at first base and batting second in the series finale versus the Athletics.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Slated for CT scan

Freeman will get a CT scan on his middle finger Monday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Freeman jammed his middle finger in Saturday's game against the Cardinals. While X-rays after contest came back negative, manager Dave Roberts told reporters Sunday that Freeman's finger is bad enough that the 34-year-old first baseman cannot grip a bat, per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports. The silver lining for the Dodgers is that Max Muncy (oblique) is expected to be activated from the 60-day injured list Monday, and he would provide depth at first base alongside Enrique Hernandez if Freeman were to be sidelined for an extended period of time.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Sitting Sunday

Freeman (finger) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Freeman left in the sixth inning of Saturday's game against St. Louis after jamming the middle finger on his right hand while fielding a groundball. X-rays came back negative following the contest, but he will sit out the series finale. Enrique Hernandez will start at first base and bat seventh against Cardinals ace Sonny Gray.

  • Nationals' Juan Yepez: Taking seat Sunday

Yepez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Philadelphia, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

Yepez is mired in a 2-for-22 slump over the past six games and will head to the bench Sunday after making 37 straight starts. Travis Blankenhorn will bat eighth as the designated hitter in the series finale versus the Phillies.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Not starting Sunday

Harper is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Harper will begin Sunday's game in the dugout. He's gone 0-for-7 with one walk and one strikeout over the last two games against Washington. Alec Bohm will man first base and bat third against Nationals right-hander Jake Irvin.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Reds' Ty France: Sitting for series finale

France is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's contest against Kansas City.

France will get a breather Sunday after going 3-for-6 across the first two games of the series. Spencer Steer will man first base and bat third against Royals right-hander Brady Singer.
