  • LaMonte Wade 1B | SF

    Giants' LaMonte Wade: Sitting Saturday

Wade is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Miami, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Wade broke out of his four-game hitless slump Friday, when he went 1-for-3 with a double. Mark Canha will start at first base and bat second.

  • Josh Bell 1B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Josh Bell: Absent from starting lineup

Bell is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Bell opened up the series going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI in Friday's 10-9 loss. Pavin Smith starts at first base Saturday, batting fifth.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | PIT

Pirates' Rowdy Tellez: Sitting against lefty

Tellez isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Saturday's game against the Guardians.

With southpaw Matthew Boyd slated to throw the first pitch for Cleveland, the lefty-hitting Tellez will step out of Saturday's starting nine. Connor Joe will start at first base and bat sixth.

  • Juan Yepez LF | WAS

Nationals' Juan Yepez: Not starting Saturday

Yepez isn't in the Nationals' lineup Saturday versus the Cubs.

Yepez was held hitless in three at-bats during Friday's contest, and he'll now receive a day off against Javier Assad and the Cubs. Andres Chaparro will serve as Washington's DH instead, allowing Joey Gallo to pick up a start at first base.

  • Josh Bell 1B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Josh Bell: Racks up three hits in loss

Bell went 3-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 10-9 loss to the Dodgers.

Since receiving a day off Aug. 19, Bell has gone 12-for-33 (.364) over his last nine contests. He's picked up three RBI and scored six runs in that span, but all 12 of those hits have been singles -- the first baseman doesn't have an extra-base hit since a double Aug. 13. For the year, Bell is slashing .246/.314/.408 with 18 home runs, 61 RBI, 55 runs scored and 22 doubles over 129 contests between Arizona and Miami.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Swats homer in return

Freeman went 1-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Friday's 10-9 win over the Diamondbacks.

Freeman is contending with a hairline fracture in his right middle finger, which was the reason he sat out the Dodgers' previous three games. His two-run homer in the first inning was his first long ball since Aug. 9, with the finger injury a contributor to that power drought. Friday's win put the Dodgers five games ahead of Arizona in the NL West, and the team could take a cautious approach with Freeman if it locks up a division crown early in September. The first baseman has a .283/.380/.478 slash line with 18 homers, 76 RBI, 71 runs scored, 31 doubles, two triples and six stolen bases over 123 games this season.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Stays hot in loss

Goldschmidt went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Yankees.

Goldschmidt has looked like his younger self lately, notching a trio of three-hit efforts over his last four games. He's also knocked in at least one run in five straight games for his longest RBI streak of the season. The first baseman is batting .240 -- his highest mark since April 4 -- with a .703 OPS, 20 home runs, 55 RBI, 60 runs scored, 22 doubles and eight stolen bases over 128 contests.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Returns to lineup

Freeman (finger) will start at first base and bat third Friday against the Diamondbacks, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

After missing the entirety of Los Angeles' previous series against the Orioles due to a hairline fracture in his right middle finger, Freeman is now willing to play through whatever lingering pain he may still have. His availability will depend on how much discomfort he's in on any given day, so there's a chance he sits down more often than usual during the final month of the year.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | MIL

Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Sitting in nightcap

Hoskins is out of the lineup for the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Reds.

Hoskins started the matinee and hit second but went 0-for-3. He'll yield to Jake Bauers at first base for the nightcap while William Contreras handles DH.

  • Dominic Smith 1B | CIN

Reds' Dominic Smith: On bench for nightcap

Smith isn't part of the Reds lineup for the second game of a doubleheader against the Brewers on Friday.

Smith drew the start at first base for the matinee and went 1-for-3. However, with lefty DL Hall on the mound for Milwaukee, it'll be Ty France holding down first base for the nightcap.
