Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Posts steal in loss
Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Phillies.
Goldschmidt had gone over a month since his last steal (Aug. 14). In that span, the first baseman hit a light .247 over 26 contests. He's up to 11 thefts in 13 attempts this year while slashing .271/.365/.448 with 24 home runs, 74 RBI and 83 runs scored over 142 games. He should continue to see regular playing time down the stretch, though it wouldn't be surprising to see the Cardinals rest the 36-year-old a bit more often since they are out of contention.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand 1B | CIN
Reds' Christian Encarnacion-Strand: Playing time trending down
Encarnacion-Strand is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Mets.
Encarnacion-Strand will be on the bench for the fourth time in five games, with two absences coming against right-handed pitchers and two coming versus left-handed pitchers. With the power-hitting rookie no longer assured of even a short-side platoon role, he's tough to justify rostering in shallower redraft formats. Encarnacion-Strand's downturn in playing time comes even as he's gotten off to a solid start to September with a .297/.333/.432 slash line through 11 games.

Joey Votto 1B | TOR
Reds' Joey Votto: Sitting versus lefty
Votto is out of the lineup Friday against the Mets.
With lefty David Peterson on the mound for New York, the lefty-hitting Votto will take a seat to begin Friday's contest. Spencer Steer will start at first base.

Spencer Steer 1B | CIN
Reds' Spencer Steer: Bops homer in loss
Steer went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 8-2 loss to the Tigers.
Steer launched his team-leading 21st home run of the season in the sixth inning. In addition to his homers, he leads the Reds with 79 RBI. While manager David Bell may shuttle players in and out of the starting lineup, he appears to be making an effort to get Steer in the lineup daily.

Carlos Santana 1B | ARI
Brewers' Carlos Santana: Takes seat Thursday
Santana is not in the lineup Thursday versus the Marlins.
Rowdy Tellez will start at first base and bat cleanup as the Brewers take on impressive young right-hander Eury Perez. Santana, 37, has slashed just .230/.295/.395 in 166 plate appearances since being acquired from the Pirates ahead of the Aug. 1 trade deadline.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand 1B | CIN
Reds' Christian Encarnacion-Strand: On bench again Thursday
Encarnacion-Strand is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Detroit.
Encarnacion-Strand started Wednesday's game and reached base twice, but this now marks the third time he's been out of the lineup in the Reds' last four contests. With Joey Votto back from the injured list and Jake Fraley limited to DH duty, the playing time squeeze for Encarnacion-Strand could continue.

Pete Alonso 1B | BAL
Mets' Pete Alonso: Knocks in three runs Wednesday
Alonso went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI in a 7-1 victory versus Arizona on Wednesday.
Alonso kicked off the scoring in the contest with an RBI single in the first inning and added a two-run double in the fifth. The slugger is up to 108 runs batted in on the campaign, second-most in the majors. Alonso has also belted 44 homers -- he and Matt Olson are the only big-leaguers so far this season with at least 40 long balls and 100 RBI.

Joey Votto 1B | TOR
Reds' Joey Votto: Absent from lineup
Votto is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Tigers.
Votto started the first two games back from the injured list, but he'll take a seat in this one. Christian Encarnacion-Strand is at first base and Hunter Renfroe will occupy the designated hitter spot.
