  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Mashes game-winning homer

Hoskins went 4-for-4 with a walk, a home run and three RBI in Friday's 4-2 extra-inning win over the Pirates.

After driving in a run with a single in the seventh inning to tie the game at 2-2, Hoskins gave the Phillies the lead with a two-run blast off Duane Underwood in the top of the 10th. The long ball was his 20th of the season -- the fourth time in his six-year career he's reached that mark -- and Hoskins is batting .308 (12-for-39) over his last 10 games to boost his slash line on the season to .253/.342/.481.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Carries offense Friday

Flores went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and a double in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Cubs.

Flores accounted for all of the Giants' run production with a ninth-inning blast. This was his first multi-hit performance since July 11 -- in 14 games between those efforts, he hit just .182 with five extra-base hits. The infielder has a .248/.329/.448 slash line with 15 homers, 55 RBI, 53 runs scored and 20 doubles through 95 contests.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Padres' Luke Voit: Launches three-run blast

Voit went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two total runs scored in Friday's 10-1 win over the Twins.

This was Voit's fourth multi-hit effort in July. His two-run homer in the first inning was all the support Blake Snell would need, though Voit also knocked an RBI double in the fifth. The 31-year-old slugger is up to 13 long balls, 47 RBI, 38 runs scored, 18 doubles and a stolen base through 79 contests.

  • Dominic Smith 1B | ATL

Mets' Dominic Smith: Nearing rehab assignment

Smith (ankle) could begin a rehab assignment during the Mets' current road trip that lasts through Wednesday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

It sounds like the best-case scenario would be Smith starting a rehab assignment in a couple days and then getting activated next weekend. He hit .194 with zero home runs in 58 games prior to getting injured.

  • Darick Hall 1B | PIT

Phillies' Darick Hall: Takes seat against left-hander

Hall isn't starting Friday against the Pirates.

Hall is getting a day off since southpaw Jose Quintana is on the mound for Pittsburgh. Kyle Schwarber will serve as the designated hitter.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Back from restricted list

Goldschmidt (personal) was reinstated from the restricted list by the Cardinals on Friday.

Goldschmidt was unable to travel to Canada for the Cardinals' two-game series against the Blue Jays earlier this week, but he'll now rejoin the team ahead of Friday's series opener versus the Nationals. The 34-year-old has homered in his last four games, going 8-for-18 with five long balls and 10 RBI.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Gets aboard thrice

Freeman went 1-for-3 with a double, two walks, two RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in Thursday's 13-0 win over the Rockies.

Freeman had a single, a steal and a run in the first inning. He added a two-run double in the seventh to close out the scoring in the lopsided win. The first baseman has matched his stolen base total from last year (eight), and he's just two shy of his career-best mark from 2018 with over two months to go. He's gone 33-for-85 (.388) in July to lift his season slash line to .323/.401/.538 with 15 home runs, 65 RBI, 67 runs scored and 33 doubles in 98 contests.

  • Alfonso Rivas 1B | STL

Cubs' Alfonso Rivas: Riding pine against lefty

Rivas isn't starting Thursday's game against the Giants.

Rivas went 1-for-5 with a double, a walk and two strikeouts over the last two games but will get a breather with left-hander Alex Wood on the mound Thursday. Frank Schwindel is shifting to first base while Yan Gomes starts behind the dish.

  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Reds' Donovan Solano: Starting against lefty again

Solano will start at third base and bat fifth Thursday against the Marlins and left-handed starting pitcher Daniel Castano.

The righty-hitting Solano has benefited from the Reds facing a lefty-heavy schedule of late, but the 34-year-old has made a case for earning more work versus right-handed pitching, too. Dating back to July 7, Solano is slashing .420/.444/.600 with two home runs, nine RBI and six runs in 15 games.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Powers Milwaukee to victory

Tellez went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs and six RBI in Wednesday's 10-4 win over the Twins.

The slugging first baseman launched a pair of three-run blasts, one off Chris Archer in the first inning and the second off Jharel Cotton in the fourth to carry the Brewers to their fifth win in six games coming out of the All-Star break. Tellez is batting only .182 (14-for-77) in July, but he's connected on five of his 20 homers on the year while driving in 16 of his 64 runs.
