Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Officially placed on restricted
Goldschmidt (personal) was placed on the restricted list Tuesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Goldschmidt is one of three Cardinals who will be ineligible to play in the two-game series in Toronto because of his vaccination status. The Cardinals start a three-game series with the Nationals on Friday, which the first baseman will be reinstated ahead of. Cory Spangenberg had his contract selected from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday and will replace Goldschmidt on the active roster.

Alfonso Rivas 1B | STL
Cubs' Alfonso Rivas: Poaching work from Gomes
Rivas will start at first base and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Pirates.
Rivas looked primed to lose playing time when Frank Schwindel was activated from the injured list shortly before the All-Star break, but manager David Ross has been able to find more frequent work for both players by handing fewer starts to Yan Gomes, who appears to have settled back in as the team's No. 2 catcher. With Willson Contreras handling more work behind the plate of late, Rivas will be able to stay in the lineup at first base for the third time in four games, while Schwindel serves as the Cubs' designated hitter.

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Takes seat versus lefty
Tellez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.
Tellez will sit for the first time in the second half after he went 4-for-14 with a double, a walk, three runs and an RBI through the first three contests of the series. With southpaw Kyle Freeland on the bump for Colorado, Brewers manager Craig Counsell will play matchups and deploy the righty-hitting Mike Brosseau at first base in place of the lefty-hitting Tellez.

Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL
Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Still not starting Monday
Cooper (arm) isn't starting Monday's game against the Reds, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Cooper was hit by a pitch while serving as a pinch hitter Saturday and is out of the lineup for a second consecutive game. It's not yet clear whether he'll be available off the bench Monday or whether he'll require a trip to the injured list. Nick Fortes is serving as the designated hitter and batting second Monday.

Darick Hall 1B | PIT
Phillies' Darick Hall: On bench against lefty
Hall is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta.
The Phillies will bring two of their righty-hitting bats off the bench as replacements for the lefty-hitting Hall and Didi Gregorius while southpaw Max Fried takes the mound for Atlanta. Alec Bohm will serve as the Phillies' designated hitter in Hall's stead while Johan Camargo comes off the bench to fill Bohm's usual post at third base.

Pete Alonso 1B | BAL
Mets' Pete Alonso: Clubs 25th homer
Alonso went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, four RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's 8-5 win over the Padres.
Alonso put the Mets ahead with a three-run blast in the sixth inning, and he added an RBI double in the seventh that ended up being the game-winning hit. The slugger didn't let the All-Star break slow him down -- he's 6-for-10 in three games since the schedule resumed. The first baseman has 25 homers, 82 RBI, 53 runs scored, two stolen bases and 17 doubles while slashing .274/.349/.534 in 95 contests this season.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Homers twice before two-game absence
Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI in a 6-3 loss Sunday in Cincinnati.
Goldschmidt was the only player to get a hit off Tyler Mahle, and he took the starter deep twice, accounting for all the Cardinals' runs. He's now homered in four straight games -- five if you include his All-Star Game blast. It appears that the only thing that can stop Goldschmidt right now is the Canadian government, as he won't be able to be with the team due to the COVID-19 vaccination requirement in Canada when St. Louis begins a two-game series in Toronto on Tuesday. He'll rejoin the Cardinals when they return stateside Friday in Washington.

LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Still sitting against lefty
Wade is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
It's the third consecutive game on the bench for Wade since Clayton Kershaw is the third straight southpaw pitching for Los Angeles. Luis Gonzalez will man right field in Sunday's series finale.

Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL
Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Not in Sunday's lineup
Cooper (arm) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates, Joe Frisaro of ManOnSecondBaseball.com reports.
Cooper appeared as a pinch hitter Saturday and was hit by a pitch in the right arm, forcing him to leave the game. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, but it's a good sign the 31-year-old remains on the active roster after the Marlins made a flurry of roster moves Sunday. Avisail Garcia is resting his legs as the designated hitter while Bryan De La Cruz starts in right field.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Unavailable in Toronto
Goldschmidt, who is starting at first base Sunday versus the Reds, won't be able to travel with the Cardinals for the two-game set against the Blue Jays this week due to his vaccination status, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Goldschmidt has homered in three straight games and will have a chance to build on that streak Sunday, but he won't be able to travel with the team to Toronto on Tuesday since he's apparently unvaccinated. Nolan Arenado will also be unavailable, leaving St. Louis without its best two players for the two-game set. A move to the restricted list will come ahead of Tuesday's series opener.
