  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Scores winning run

Flores went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Brewers.

Flores' lone hit Saturday was an eighth-inning single, and he came around to score when reliever Jandel Gustave committed a balk with the bases loaded. That proved to be the decisive run in the contest. Flores was out of the lineup for two games with calf soreness, and he was able to return only as the designated hitter Saturday. The versatile infielder has enjoyed some of the best health on the Giants this year, slashing .253/.336/.446 with 13 home runs, 50 RBI, 46 runs scored and 17 doubles through 330 plate appearances. The upcoming All-Star break should allow him enough rest to fully recover.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Homer, three RBI in victory

Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and one additional RBI in Saturday's victory over the Reds.

The starting first baseman for the National League All-Star team, Goldschmidt is now up to 20 home runs, and his OPS is over 1.000 for the season (1.004). Since Goldschmidt is playing Tuesday, the Cardinals may look to rest him Sunday.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Nationals' Josh Bell: Collects three hits

Bell went 3-for-4 with a triple, a run and two RBI in a 6-3 loss to Atlanta on Saturday.

Bell singled in the second inning, tripled home a run and scored in the fourth and notched an RBI single in the sixth. The 29-year-old has been scorching over the last three games against Atlanta, going 8-for-13 with two doubles, a triple and a home run to bring his season line to .311/.389/.506 with 13 home runs, 47 runs and 50 RBI.

  • Dominic Smith 1B | ATL

Mets' Dominic Smith: Heading for MRI

Smith will undergo an MRI on his right ankle, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Smith injured his ankle when running the bases in the 10th inning of the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs. He'll be on the bench for the nightcap as a result, with J.D. Davis serving as the designated hitter.

  • Dominic Smith 1B | ATL

Mets' Dominic Smith: Exits with apparent injury

Smith was removed from Saturday's matinee against the Cubs in the top of the 10th inning due to an apparent left ankle injury, Deesha Thosar of FoxSports.com reports.

Smith began the 10th inning as a runner at second base, but he appeared to roll his ankle while taking a lead off the bag and was removed from the game as a result. Prior to his departure, he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. It's not yet clear whether Smith will be available for Saturday's nightcap or for Sunday's series finale at Wrigley Field.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: On bench against left-hander

Wade isn't starting Saturday's game against the Brewers.

Wade went 1-for-11 with a triple, two RBI, a walk and four strikeouts over the last three games but will head to the bench with left-hander Eric Lauer on the mound for Milwaukee. Luis Gonzalez is starting in right field and batting eighth.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Returns to lineup

Flores (calf) is starting Saturday against the Brewers.

Flores wasn't in the lineup for the last two games due to right calf soreness, but he appeared as a pinch hitter in both matchups and went 0-for-2 with a strikeout. He's serving as the designated hitter and batting second Saturday.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Returns to lineup

Bohm (finger) is starting Saturday against Miami.

Bohm sustained a dislocated left ring finger Monday against the Cardinals and didn't appear in any of the last three games. However, he'll start at third base and bat seventh during Saturday's matchup.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Could be trade target

The Diamondbacks are willing to discuss trades involving Walker leading up to the Aug. 2 deadline, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Walker rebounded from a down year in 2021 and is tied for ninth in MLB with 22 home runs -- he hit No. 22 on Friday. While his .206 batting average may not look appealing, the first baseman's expected average (.269 xBA) and on-base rate (.400 xwOBA, 17th in MLB) paint a different picture of his value. Teams more analytically inclined will see through the low batting average.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Hits two-run blast

Walker went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Padres.

Walker had gone 11 games without a long ball since his two-homer game versus the Rockies on July 2. Since that date, he's hit .179 (7-for-39) with only one multi-hit performance. The first baseman's downturn in power of late hurts his fantasy profile, as he doesn't often hit consistently. He's slashing .206/.319/.467 with 22 homers, 45 RBI, 44 runs scored, 12 doubles and a triple through 88 contests.
