  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Collects three hits

Goldschmidt went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, a walk and two runs scored in Monday's 7-5 win over the Pirates.

Goldschmidt took Sunday off after going 0-for-9 over his previous three games and he immediately got his groove back Monday. He doubled and scored in the sixth inning and then drilled a go-ahead shot to begin the seventh. The slugging first baseman is now slashing .335/.419/.598 with 33 extra-base hits and 48 RBI this season. However, since losing his 25-game hitting streak on June 4, Goldschmidt is hitting just .250 with one RBI in nine appearances.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Nearing rehab assignment

Wade (knee) could be sent out on a rehab assignment at the end of the week, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Wade was held back from beginning his rehab stint after experiencing tightness in his left hamstring over the weekend, but he's slowly making progress. The team should have a better idea on a return date once he embarks on a rehab assignment.

  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Back in action

Cooper was activated off the COVID-19 injured list Monday and will bat second and play first base against the Phillies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Cooper hit the COVID-19 injured list Saturday after coming down with cramps the day prior, but he evidently didn't test positive for the virus. That's great news for the Marlins, as Cooper has gone on a .455/.507/.682 tear over his last 18 games.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Gets rare day off

Bohm is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Bohm will sit for the first time since April 17 while Matt Vierling picks up a start at the hot corner. The 25-year-old's move to the bench comes after he went 1-for-16 with a walk and five strikeouts over the Phillies' last four games.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Padres' Luke Voit: Belts sixth homer

Voit went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Rockies.

Voit's sixth home run of the season put the Padres on the board after Rockies starter German Marquez blanked the Friars through the first four frames. Since returning from a stint on the 10-day injured list May 10 after dealing with a biceps injury, Voit has slashed .259/.311/.464 with six home runs, 16 RBI and 15 runs in 29 games.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Braves' Matt Olson: Mashes eighth homer

Olson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Pirates.

The first baseman gave Atlanta an insurance run in the eighth inning, taking Chase De Jong deep for his eighth homer of the year. Olson has begun to pick up the pace at the plate, slashing .276/.333/.534 over his last 14 games with six doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Blasts 18th homer

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Angels.

His solo shot in the ninth inning of Los Angeles closer Raisel Iglesias gave the Mets an insurance run in a 4-1 win. Alonso has hit safely in seven straight starts, and over his last 15 games he's slashing .314/.431/.765 with seven of his 18 homers on the year.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Nearly hits for cycle

Walker went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double, three RBI, a run scored and a walk in Sunday's 13-1 win over Philadelphia.

Walker knocked an RBI double in the fifth inning and added a two-run single in the sixth. The three-RBI day matched the total output over his previous 10 games. He improved his slash line to .207/.302/.474 with 31 RBI and 26 extra-base hits through 242 plate appearances.

  • Drew Ellis 1B | PHI

Diamondbacks' Drew Ellis: Designated for assignment

Ellis was designated for assignment by the DIamondbacks on Sunday.

Ellis has appeared in 34 major-league games over the last two years but hasn't made much of an impact, hitting .134/.268/.207. His absence clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Luke Weaver (elbow) to return from the 60-day injured list.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Receives rare rest

Goldschmidt will sit Sunday against the Reds, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Goldschmidt finds himself on the bench for just the third time this season. While he still owns an excellent .327/.411/.577 slash line, he's gone hitless over his last three games, so a day off seems like a good idea. Juan Yepez will handle first base in his absence.
