  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Two hits, stolen base

Freeman went 2-for-4 with a run, walk and a stolen base in a 6-1 win over San Diego on Friday.

Freeman singled and stole second in the first inning, walked in the third and singled and scored in the seventh to continue a torrid five game-stretch that's see n the 32-year-old go 10-for-20 with three multi-hit games. After a slow start, the first-year Dodger is slashing .346/.417/.519 to place among the league leaders in each category while the theft was his first.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Collects three hits, two RBI

Goldschmidt went 3-for-5 with two RBI during Friday's 4-2 win against the Reds.

The 34-year-old entered Friday's contest 3-for-32 over the past eight games, so the three-hit performance was certainly a welcome sight. Goldschmidt is still looking for his first home run of the season and has significant work to do on his .196/.302/.239 slash line.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Drives in go-ahead run

Bohm went 1-for-4 with a two-run single in Friday's 4-2 win over the Brewers.

Bohm's two-run single in the eighth put the Phillies up 3-2 and proved to be the go-ahead knock. The 25-year-old slugger has been terrific at the plate to start the year; he's now slashing .440/.455/.640 with nine RBI through 25 at-bats. As long as he's swinging a hot bat, Bohm should continue to see regular time at third base.

  • Alfonso Rivas 1B | STL

Cubs' Alfonso Rivas: Rejoins major-league club

Rivas was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Rivas spent just under a week in the minors, but he'll now rejoin the Cubs after Clint Frazier (appendicitis) was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday. Rivas has appeared in two major-league games this year and has gone 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. He'll serve in a depth role while Frazier is unavailable.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Rehab assignment begins Saturday

Wade (knee) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Wade has dealt with knee inflammation since late March, but he's been able to ramp up his baseball activities in recent weeks. The Giants haven't indicated how many rehab appearances he'll require, but the 28-year-old could rejoin the major-league club as early as next week.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Not starting Friday

Tellez isn't starting Friday's game against the Phillies.

Tellez has started against just one left-handed pitcher this season, and he'll take a seat with southpaw Ranger Suarez on the mound for Philadelphia on Friday. Keston Hiura will start at first base and bat fifth.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

    Nationals' Josh Bell: Starting Thursday

Bell (knee) is starting Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Bell exited Wednesday's loss to Arizona due to a knee injury, but he underwent an MRI that came back clean and tested the issue ahead of Thursday's matchup. He'll ultimately be able to start at first base and bat cleanup against Arizona. The 29-year-old is hitting .354/.456/.521 with two homers, 11 RBI and 10 runs this season.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Nationals' Josh Bell: MRI comes back clean

Bell (knee) underwent an MRI on Thursday that came back clean, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.

Bell felt his knee tighten up while playing first base in Wednesday's loss to Arizona, and he's testing his injury ahead of Thursday's series finale. Even if he's held out Thursday, he should be considered day-to-day following the encouraging MRI results.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Notches steal

Goldschmidt went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Marlins.

Goldschmidt has only hit safely in five of his 10 games this season. He's posted a shaky .162/.295/.216 slash line with an RBI, seven runs scored, a pair of stolen bases and two doubles through 44 plate appearances. He tore the cover off the ball in spring training, so there's little reason to be concerned about Goldschmidt's long-term numbers -- he's never hit lower than .250 in any season of his career, and that came in his rookie year.

  • Keston Hiura 2B | LAD

Brewers' Keston Hiura: Adds insurance with first homer

Hiura went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Pirates.

After going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts to start the day, Hiura gave the Brewers a couple of important insurance runs with his first home run of the season in the seventh inning off Pirates reliever Miguel Yajure. Through 21 plates appearances, Hiura is slashing .222/.333/.722 with eight strikeouts and three walks.
