  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Dodgers' Matt Beaty: Swipes bag, scores run

Beaty hit a single, stole a base and scored a run in his lone at-bat as a pinch hitter in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Mets.

The 28-year-old was able to make an impact after hitting for Albert Pujols in the sixth inning. Beaty got aboard on a single, stole second and scored on Chris Taylor's bases-loaded walk to give the Dodgers just enough for the win. Playing time has been sparse for Beaty lately, as he's seen just 18 at-bats across 15 games in August. He owns a .266/.363/.380 slash line with five home runs, 34 RBI, 31 runs scored and a stolen base through 212 plate appearances overall.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Remains out of lineup

Hoskins (groin) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Manager Joe Girardi was optimistic that Hoskins would be able to return Saturday, but as it turns out Hoskins will be out of the lineup for at least one additional game. Brad Miller will start at first base and bat sixth.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Nationals' Josh Bell: On bench Saturday

Bell is not starting Saturday's game against the Brewers, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.

A 1-for-3, two-walk performance Friday has Bell hitting .167 with a double, a home run and six RBI in his last 10 games. Ryan Zimmerman is starting at first base and batting cleanup Saturday.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Homers against Dodgers

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a home run and an additional RBI in Friday's loss against the Dodgers.

Alonso was responsible for all the offense the Mets mustered throughout the game, as he blasted his 27th long ball of the season off Walker Buehler in the fourth and also added an RBI single in the eighth. The star slugger has 27 homers with 71 RBI on the season while hitting .258, and he's also hit safely in six straight games, going deep twice in that span.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Nationals' Josh Bell: Reaches base thrice in win

Bell went 1-for-3 with two walks and an RBI in Friday's 4-1 win over the Brewers.

Bell walked with the bases loaded in the ninth to pad the Nationals' lead to 4-1. Bell has regressed in August after a nice month of July, as he's slashing .210/.296/.387 with three homers, 13 RBI, eight runs scored and 8:8 BB:K over 17 games.

  • Diamondbacks' Asdrubal Cabrera: Delivers two hits in loss

Cabrera went 2-for-5 with a double in Friday's 9-4 loss to Colorado.

Cabrera has started eight of the last 10 games, which in a vacuum isn't odd, but is so when one factors in Arizona's record ranks 29th among 30 teams. Perhaps manager Torey Lovullo is deferring to the 35-year-old's veteran status, but the manager has several young players up with the team that could use those plate appearances. For now at least, Cabrera should be considered a regular, playing four-to-five games per week.

  • Drew Ellis 1B | PHI

    Diamondbacks' Drew Ellis: Playing regularly

Ellis started at second base and went 1-for-2 with a run scored in Friday's 9-4 loss to Colorado. He was also hit by a pitch.

Ellis started for the seventh time over the last nine games, showing up at second and third base, despite not doing very much at the plate. The 25-year-old infielder is 4-for-22 (.182) during that stretch and batting .136 with a .460 OPS overall. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo will give at-bats to young players like Ellis, who has not been as productive as Josh Rojas, Josh VanMeter or Pavin Smith.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Socks 28th homer

Votto went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Friday's 5-3 win over the Marlins.

His fifth-inning blast off Elieser Hernandez capped the scoring on the night for the Reds. Votto remains dialed in, going yard five times in the last 10 games while slashing .324/.432/.757 with 13 RBI, and on the season the veteran first baseman is batting .282 with 28 homers, 51 runs and 81 RBI through 94 contests.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Not returning Friday

Hoskins (groin) won't return from the 10-day injured list Friday, Daniel Guerrero of MLB.com reports.

Hoskins took batting practice and fielded grounders ahead of Friday's game against the Padres, but he'll spend at least one more day on the injured list. However, manager Joe Girardi is optimistic that the first baseman will be back in action Saturday.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Stays hot Thursday

Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a double and a run in a win over the Brewers on Thursday.

There seems to be no slowing down the veteran slugger, who has four consecutive two-hit efforts and six such efforts in his last seven games overall. Goldschmidt's extended hot stretch dates back nearly two months, as he's slashing .342/.404/.540 with 11 doubles, seven home runs and 28 RBI in his last 40 games.
