  • Mets' Asdrubal Cabrera: Breaks brief slump with three hits, homer

Cabrera ended an 0-for-12 skid by going 3-for-5 with a homer and a walk in Tuesday's loss to the Rangers.

That skid followed a brief hot streak, so Cabrera's running a bit hot and cold lately. It's been a trying season for the veteran shortstop, who's generally been unable to recapture last year's career-best power output and is sitting on an unhelpful .255 batting average, but with a .283 BABIP (career .306), he should have some positive regression headed his way.

Marlins' Justin Bour: DL bound with ankle injury

Bour (ankle) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Bour missed the past two games due to what is being classified as a left ankle contusion, and it seems like the Marlins want to have him sit out 10 days now rather than let the issue get worse by letting him play through the pain. The move is backdated to June 5, so June 16 would be his earliest possible return date. Tomas Telis was summoned from Triple-A to replace him on the roster, although Tyler Moore will likely pick up most of the starts at first base in his stead.

Marlins' Justin Bour: MRI reveals bone bruise in ankle

Bour has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left ankle after undergoing an MRI on Monday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Bour is considered day-to-day for now, but this could be a serious enough injury to warrant a stay on the 10-day disabled list. The Marlins will have to weigh their options quickly, as they don't have another day off for a week and may not want to use a roster spot on an injured Bour. That said, the Marlins will want Bour's hot bat back in the lineup as soon as possible, so if it's only a matter of days, they might be willing to take the roster hit and wait it out.

Marlins' Justin Bour: Sent for MRI on ankle

Bour had a precautionary MRI on his injured left ankle Monday in Chicago, Tim Healey of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

The results are not yet back, and Bour is out of the lineup for the second straight game Monday, although he did appear as a pinch hitter in Sunday's game. He missed two months last year with a right ankle injury, but this time it's his left ankle that is giving him trouble. Tyler Moore is getting the start at first base and hitting seventh in his place.

Marlins' Justin Bour: Sits for second straight game due to ailing ankle

Bour is not in the lineup Monday against the Cubs, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

This marks the second consecutive game Bour will watch from the bench. He's been incredibly hot at the plate as of late (1.337 OPS over his past seven games), but Tim Healey of The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that he's being bothered by an ankle injury. He'll give way for Tyler Moore to make another start at first base Monday evening.

  • Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt: Drives home two Sunday

Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Marlins.

Goldschmidt turned in another solid all-around performance, but he couldn't come through with a clutch hit in the ninth inning, as Marlins closer A.J. Ramos caught him looking for a third strike during the at-bat. Though the first baseman's production has slowed a bit over the past two weeks, he's still sporting a .998 OPS for the season, which is only seven points behind the career-best mark he established in 2015.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Cubs' Anthony Rizzo: Delivers three-hit game Sunday

Rizzo went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.

With Kris Bryant going 0-for-4 in front of him, Rizzo didn't get as many RBI opportunities as fantasy owners may have liked. Still, a three-hit performance is quite nice, especially considering that Rizzo entered the contest mired in a 1-for-15 slump over the past five games. Rizzo is still hitting just .236, but after he batted .292 a season ago, there's reason to believe that number will rise.

  • Brock Stassi 1B | SF

Phillies' Brock Stassi: Optioned to Double-A on Sunday

Stassi was optioned to Double-A Reading on Sunday, Stephen Gross of the Morning Call reports.

Manager Pat Mackanin explained after the move that the motivation behind it was to get Stassi more regular at-bats. Stassi hadn't had more than one at-bat in a game since May 21, and his average had dipped to .197. With regular playing time down at Reading, Stassi will have the chance to get things turned around at the dish.

  • Justin Bour 1B | SF

Marlins' Justin Bour: Sits out Sunday

Bour is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Bour has been one of the hottest hitters in all of baseball over the past several weeks, raising his average from .222 to .296 since the beginning of May. He will head to the bench for a day of rest with Tyler Moore drawing the start at first base in his absence.

Marlins' Justin Bour: Drives in two more runs Saturday

Bour went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI during Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Bour sports a seven-game hitting streak with two doubles, three home runs, seven RBI and four runs. He's up to an impressive 40 RBI for the campaign and owns a .296/.371/.593 slash line. A career year is well within reach.
