The 24-year-old Mountcastle has multiple hits in four of his last nine games, with a batting average of .324 in that span. For the season, he's up to two home runs, 11 RBI, 11 runs scored and three stolen bases in a near-everyday role. He's striking out a 31.3 percent rate, which has taken some shine out of his play so far.

  • Braves' Freddie Freeman: Blasts ninth homer

Freeman went 3-for-3 with a solo home run and one walk while knocking in two runs in Sunday's win over Philadelphia.

Freeman got on base in every plate appearance Sunday evening. He knocked in teammate Ronald Acuna in the first inning and followed it up with a solo shot in the third inning. Freeman is now slashing .217/.352/.467 and appears to have broken out of his slump.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Homers in two-hit game

Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in the Padres' 11-1 win over the Giants on Sunday.

Cronenworth added a two-run home run off Johnny Cueto as a part of the four-run second inning Sunday. The 27-year-old has three multi-hit games in his last four contests. He is slashing .279/.356/.419 in 147 plate appearances, providing consistent production toward the bottom of the Padres' lineup.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Drives in three runs

Abreu went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 9-3 with over the Royals.

Abreu tacked on some insurance runs late in Sunday's win. He knocked a two-run single in the seventh inning followed by an RBI double in the ninth. The reigning AL MVP improved his season slash line to .220/.317/.415 with 26 RBI in 32 games.

  • Diamondbacks' Asdrubal Cabrera: Homers off bench Sunday

Cabrera hit a solo home run in his only at-bat in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Mets.

Cabrera came into the game as a defensive replacement for Eduardo Escobar in the seventh inning. The 35-year-old Cabrera's lone at-bat came in the eighth, and he took Mets reliever Jacob Barnes deep for the final run of the game. Cabrera has racked up four hits in his last 10 at-bats. The infielder is slashing .263/.378/.424 with three home runs, 13 RBI, 17 runs scored and no stolen bases in 119 plate appearances. His versatility around the infield will keep him in the lineup more often than not, but third base has been his main position this season.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Drops in batting order

Hoskins will start at first base and bat seventh Sunday against Atlanta, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

The 28-year-old batted second or third in all 30 of his previous starts this season, but he'll drop to the seventh spot in the order with a .480 OPS and 34.8 percent strikeout rate in his past 12 appearances. Jean Segura will move up to the two hole Sunday while Hoskins attempts to get back on track.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Mariners' Ty France: Heads to bench

France is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.

Mitch Haniger will take over as Seattle's designated hitter in place of France, who is mired in his worst slump of the season. Over his last 11 games, France has gone 2-for-40, sinking his season average from .325 to .236 during that stretch.

  • Ryan O'Hearn RF | PIT

Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: Loses work to Hanser Alberto

O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

On the bench for a third straight game, O'Hearn looks to have lost hold of a strong-side platoon role for Kansas City. Hanser Alberto will make his third start in as many days in place of O'Hearn, who is hitting .219 with a pair of solo home runs since his April 23 call-up.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Won't play Sunday

Cron (back) is unavailable Sunday against the Cardinals and will be reevaluated Monday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

The 31-year-old will sit for the third straight contest as he continues to battle a lower-back issue. Connor Joe and Matt Adams have both received a start at first base during Cron's absence.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Tracking toward Tuesday return

Manager Aaron Boone said he's hopeful that Voit (knee) will be activated from the 10-day injured list during the Yankees' upcoming three-game series with the Rays that begins Tuesday, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.

Voit, who has gone 5-for-13 with a pair of home runs and walks in his first four rehab contests at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, is slated to serve as the affiliate's designated hitter Sunday in what is expected to be his final minor-league game. Assuming Voit comes out of the game with no renewed discomfort in his surgically repaired left knee, he'll likely make his 2021 debut for the Yankees at first base in Tuesday's series opener in Tampa Bay. Voit's return will likely result in fewer opportunities for Mike Ford and Rougned Odor (knee), who had been his primary replacements in the lineup this season.
