  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Indians' Carlos Santana: Goes yard again

Santana went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Wednesday against the Pirates.

Santana took Dovydas Neverauskas yard in the sixth inning, enough offense to propel Cleveland to a win. It was Santana's third home run of the season, and second in two games against Pittsburgh. He is slowly coming around at the plate, and now has 12 RBI to go along with 13 runs scored and a .197/.408/.342 line in 103 plate appearances.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Tigers' C.J. Cron: Transferred to 45-day IL

Cron (knee) was placed on the 45-day injured list Wednesday.

He elected season-ending surgery on his sprained left knee last week, so this is just a formality to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. Cron will be a free agent this offseason.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Stays hot in loss

Goldschmidt went 3-for-4 with an RBI single, a walk and a run in a loss to the Cubs on Tuesday.

The veteran first baseman was arguably the Cardinals' best offensive weapon on a night when their bats couldn't get much going overall. Goldschmidt has been swinging a red-hot bat since St. Louis resumed play Saturday, hitting .400 (8-for-20) with a double, a home run, three RBI, three walks and four runs across six games.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Expected back Thursday

Manager Charlie Montoyo said Tellez (head) is feeling good and should rejoin the lineup for one or both games of Thursday's doubleheader with the Phillies, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.

Tellez is out of the lineup for a second straight day in Wednesday's series finale with the Orioles after he was on the receiving end of an elbow to the head in Monday's contest. While Tellez is continuing to go through the concussion protocol, he doesn't appear to have been diagnosed with a concussion at any point and may just be withheld from the starting nine as a precaution. Tellez is batting .218 with three home runs across 61 plate appearances this season.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: On bench Wednesday

Tellez (head) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.

Tellez has yet to clear the concussion protocol after being hit in the head by an elbow while he was playing first base Monday, so he'll be on the bench for a second game in a row. Since the Blue Jays have thus far resisted placing Tellez on the injured list, the club is seemingly optimistic that the 25-year-old will clear protocol in short order.

  • Braves' Freddie Freeman: Stays hot Tuesday

Freeman went 2-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run in Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Nationals.

His fourth-inning blast gave Atlanta a 5-2 lead, but it was the last sign of meaningful offense the Braves would produce on the night. Freeman's put his sluggish start to the season behind him with six multi-hit efforts in his last 12 games, a stretch during which he's slashing .378/.451/.733 with three homers (plus five doubles and a triple) and seven RBI.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Clubs eighth homer

Voit went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Rays.

He took Blake Snell deep in the fifth inning, but the Yankees were already in a 6-1 hole. Voit has hit safely in eight straight games, adding four homers and 10 RBI to his ledger during that stretch, and on the year he's now hitting .284 with eight long balls and 17 RBI.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Swats solo shot

Hoskins went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Tuesday's 13-6 win over the Red Sox.

Hoskins went deep in the fifth inning, his solo shot pulling the Phillies within a run. In the sixth, he drew a walk and came around to score on Bryce Harper's three-run homer. Hoskins has hit safely in seven of the last eight games, going 9-for-29 (.310) with a homer, five RBI and nine runs scored in that span.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Racks up three hits

Abreu went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI in Tuesday's 10-4 win over the Tigers.

Abreu posted his third three-hit performance of the season and he has now hit safely in seven of Chicago's last 10 games while reaching base safely in all but one of those contests. The veteran slugger has gone 11-for-36 (.305) with two homers and eight RBI in that 10-game stretch.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Pirates' Josh Bell: Drives in two

Bell went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI on Tuesday against Cleveland.

Bell came through with the majority of the Pirates' offense when he drove a double into the gap in the fifth frame to drive in two. While his performance has been underwhelming this season, Bell now has seven RBI in his last eight starts. Still, his overall line is an abysmal .205/.253/.315 with nine RBI and eight runs scored through 79 plate appearances.
