  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

    Giants' Donovan Solano: Remains sidelined

Solano (abdomen) will remain on the bench Wednesday against the Astros, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Solano sat out Tuesday's game with abdominal soreness and will sit for at least one more contest. With an off day Thursday, it's possible he's able to return Friday against Oakland. Mauricio Dubon will again play second base Wednesday.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Shakes off hip injury

Abreu (hip) went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs Tuesday in the White Sox's 8-4 win over the Tigers.

Abreu's right hip injury forced him to exit early in Monday's 5-1 loss, but the stinger ultimately wasn't too much of a concern, as he was back in the lineup a day later and came through with a strong showing at the dish. He'll start again at first base and bat third in Wednesday's series finale.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Tigers' C.J. Cron: Hopes to delay season-ending surgery

Cron acknowledged Tuesday that he'll eventually require surgery on his sprained left knee, but he remains hopeful to play again this season before undergoing a procedure in the winter, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports. "[Surgery] has been discussed...We're gonna try to do as best we can to give it enough support to maybe finish the year. It's one of those things where something is gonna have to get done eventually, from the opinions I've gotten so far."

Cron sprained his knee in Monday's game against the White Sox and was placed on the 10-day injured list a day later. The 30-year-old is without a clear timeline to return, but based on his description of the injury, he seems likely to be sidelined more than the minimum 10 days even if he puts off surgery until the offseason. He's currently donning a brace on the knee in an attempt to strengthen his ligament enough to resume on-field activities, so until he's able to do that, the Tigers likely won't hone in on a target date for him to come off the IL. Jeimer Candelario is expected to serve as the Tigers' primary first baseman while Cron is sidelined.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Blasts fifth homer

Voit went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run during Tuesday's 9-6 win over Atlanta.

Voit opened the scoring Tuesday by putting a 422-foot blast into the left-field seats during the first inning. The 29-year-old has a .261/.333/.587 slash line with five home runs and 11 RBI in 14 games.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Blasts towering solo shot

Walker went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks in Tuesday's 8-7 loss to the Rockies.

Walker opened the scoring with a 450-foot blast off Rockies starter Kyle Freeland in the fourth inning. That was the first homer of the year for Walker, who has added 11 RBI, nine runs scored and a .290 batting average in 17 games.

  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Giants' Donovan Solano: Dealing with abdominal issue

Solano's absence from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Astros is due to abdominal soreness, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Solano has swung a very hot bat this season, hitting .458/.476/.661. He'll be re-evaluated Wednesday, but with the Giants having a scheduled off day Thursday, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him sit for at least one more game. Mauricio Dubon will handle second base Tuesday.

  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Giants' Donovan Solano: Out of lineup

Solano will sit Tuesday against Houston, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Solano has earned a significant role in San Francisco this season, starting 14 of the team's first 19 games. With a .458/.476/.661 slash line through his first 63 plate appearances, it's not hard to see why, though the .520 BABIP that props up that line isn't anything close to sustainable. Mauricio Dubon will be the second baseman Tuesday.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Returns to lineup

Abreu (hip) is in the lineup Tuesday against the Tigers.

Abreu left Monday's contest with a stinger in his right hip, but he'll return to action Tuesday. Manager Rick Renteria didn't sound too concerned about the injury, and the first baseman should be available for the White Sox going forward.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Diamondbacks' Kole Calhoun: Sits against southpaw

Calhoun will be on the bench against lefty Kyle Freeland and the Rockies on Tuesday.

The Diamondbacks haven't been platooning Calhoun this season, as he started against two of the first three lefties the team faced, though any off days he does receive will likely come against southpaws. Tim Locastro will be the right fielder Tuesday.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Not in lineup Tuesday

Tellez isn't in the lineup Tuesday against the Marlins.

Even with righty Elieser Hernandez on the mound for Miami on Tuesday, Tellez will sit after going hitless in the past three contests. Joe Panik will take over as the designated hitter and bat eighth.
