Abreu went 2-for-4 in Saturday's 4-0 loss to the White Sox.

Abreu's first-inning single extended his hitting streak to six games and was his 1,000th career hit. The 32-year-old is having a monster August, slashing .344/.387/.604 with six home runs, seven doubles, 17 runs and 24 RBI over 24 games.

Bell went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer and two runs in a 14-0 victory over the Reds on Saturday.

Hitting .226 this month, Bell is limping to the finish line, but he still has 72 extra-base hits and 102 RBI this year. If he can get out of his funk, Bell can still finish the year atop the National League in RBI. He is batting .275 with 32 home runs and 86 runs in 465 at-bats this season.

Flores has a minor back injury and hasn't seen game action since Tuesday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Manager Torey Lovullo said Flores has been available off the bench the last couple days, so it doesn't appear to be a serious concern. It's poor timing for the 28-year-old, as he has a .421/.463/.789 slash line with four home runs in 16 games in August.

Alonso went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in Saturday's 9-5 loss to Atlanta.

His fifth-inning blast off Max Fried briefly gave the Mets a 5-4 lead, but it was the last offense the club would muster on the night. Alonso now has 41 homers on the season, tying the franchise record held by Todd Hundley (1996) and Carlos Beltran (2006) -- and the rookie has 33 games left on the schedule to claim the record for himself.

Goldschmidt went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Rockies.

The veteran first baseman's first season in St. Louis hasn't exactly gone smoothly -- his .807 OPS would be the lowest since his abbreviated rookie season in 2011 -- but he's still supplying his usual power. Goldschmidt is now one homer shy of his third straight 30-HR campaign and the fifth of his career.

Dixon went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts in Saturday's 8-5 loss to the Twins.

It was a rough night for Dixon, and to add insult to injury, his final strikeout ended the game. The 27-year-old entered the contest with a 31.8 percent strikeout rate, so boom-or-bust efforts are to be expected, and he was definitely on the bust side Saturday.

Votto (back) will not return during the team's weekend series against the Pirates, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Manager David Bell reported that Votto is progressing but will not be back at least until the team the team begins its series at Miami on Monday. In the meantime, Derek Dietrich should get the majority of starts at first base.

Rizzo exited Saturday's contest with back tightness, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Rizzo exited the contest in the fifth inning, as Jonathan Lucroy replaced him as a pinch hitter. The severity of the injury is not yet known.

Cooper is not in the lineup Saturday against the Phillies.

Cooper has now been absent from the starting lineup in three of the team's past four games. He got off to a slow start in August, going hitless in his first five games. However, he then reached base in 10 of his next 12 starts, making the timing of his removal from the lineup a bit curious. Regardless, Neil Walker will bat second and man first base in his place.

Hiura went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 6-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

The rookie continues to rake. Hiura is slashing .286/.360/.532 through 19 games in August, and in 64 big-league contests he has 15 home runs, eight steals, 38 RBI, 41 runs and a dynamite .958 OPS.
