Calhoun went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored Friday against the Angels.

As with all Angels outfielders, given the absence of Mike Trout (thumb), Calhoun has been called upon to impress, and recently, he has. Since the start of June, he is 13-for-27 with four home runs, 10 RBI and seven runs scored in 27 at-bats.

Abreu is feeling good and has reported minimal swelling after taking a hit-by-pitch off the leg Friday, CSN Chicago reports.

According to manager Rick Renteria, the club considers Abreu day-to-day going forward. Considering an evaluation found nothing more than a bruise and his symptoms Friday night seemed minimal, it would be surprising if this kept Abreu out for multiple games.

Abreu was forced to leave Friday's game against Cleveland with a bruised left leg, Darly Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Abreu was replaced by a pinch runner after he was hit by a pitch in the top of the seventh inning. He will be re-evaluated Saturday, so expect an update sometime before the 7:15 PM first pitch, and consider him day-to-day until then.

Rizzo went 1-for-2 with three walks and two runs scored in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Rockies.

He and Kris Bryant drew six walks between them as Colorado pitchers (intentionally or otherwise) didn't give Chicago's two big sluggers a chance to beat them. Rizzo's .247 batting average on the season remains far below expectations, but he's now 9-for-20 (.450) over his last six games with seven walks.

Gurriel is not in Friday's lineup against the Angels, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Gurriel gets his first day off since June 3, with Marwin Gonzalez manning first base and batting sixth Friday. With a nine-game hit streak to his name, Gurriel will likely be back in the lineup Saturday.

Goldschmidt went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI in Thursday's 15-3 win over the Padres.

Chris Iannetta stole the show with a seven-RBI performance out of the two-hole, leaving fewer run-producing opportunities available for Goldschmidt behind him in the order. It was nonetheless another productive showing for the first baseman, who also drew a walk in addition to the pair of hits. He's opened June on a high note with a .381 average, one home run , seven RBI and seven runs in seven games.

Bell is not in the lineup Thursday against the Marlins.

Bell has more strikeouts (eight) than hits (four) in the month of June, so he'll head to the bench for a night off. John Jaso will take over to replace him at first base.

Votto went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs scored during Thursday's win over St. Louis.

It was the second game in a row Votto left the yard, and he's now up to a .300/.423/.595 slash line with 16 homers, 48 RBI and 45 runs. He's providing elite fantasy numbers and continues to be the driving force behind the high-scoring Cincinnati offense.

Votto went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Cardinals.

The 33-year-old's huge first half continues, and Votto now has 15 homers and 46 RBI through 58 games. Wednesday's performance snapped a seven-game streak with a walk, and the first baseman is slashing .310/.444/.690 with three home runs, seven RBI and six runs over that eight-game stretch.

Carter went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Wednesday's 8-0 win over the Red Sox.

He's now homered in consecutive games, giving Carter six blasts on the season, and the three-hit performance got his batting average back over .200 for the first time since May 26. With Greg Bird (ankle) close to returning to action, Carter will need to keep slugging if he wants to retain even a platoon role at first base.
