Yankees' Ben Rice: Viewed as primary first baseman
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Thursday that he views Rice as the team's primary first baseman next season, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Rice split time between designated hitter (48 starts), first base (46 starts) and catcher (26 starts) in 2025, slashing .255/.337/.499 with 26 home runs across 530 regular-season plate appearances. Boone didn't rule out Rice serving as the team's No. 2 or No. 3 catcher in 2026, but most of the 26-year-old's playing time is expected to come at first base.

Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Four hits in Game 3 rout
Guerrero went 4-for-4 with a solo home run, two additional runs scored and a walk during Wednesday's 13-4 win against Seattle in Game 3 of the ALCS.

He returned to form with his performance Wednesday, which was highlighted by a 406-foot blast against George Kirby in the fifth inning. The first baseman has been one of the most prolific hitters in the postseason this year, slashing .464/.515/.964 with four homers, 10 RBI and eight runs scored through seven games.

Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Delivers first blow of NLCS
Freeman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a double in Monday's 2-1 win in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series against the Brewers.
Freeman got the Dodgers on the scoreboard by hitting a roof scraper of a solo home run during the top of the sixth inning off Chad Patrick. Freeman nearly hit his second long ball of the game in the top of the eighth, doubling off the wall in right field before ultimately being stranded. Freeman looked strong in plate appearances against righties Patrick and Trevor Megill on Monday and will draw another matchup against a right hander in Game 2 on Tuesday with Freddy Peralta scheduled to toe the rubber for Milwaukee.

Michael Busch 3B | CHC
Cubs' Michael Busch: Smacks fourth homer of postseason
Busch went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Thursday's win over the Brewers in Game 4 of the National League Division Series.
Busch put the game away with his left-on-left homer off Robert Gasser in the eighth inning, which pushed Busch's playoff OPS to 1.162. His four homers this postseason lead the majors -- one more than Vladimir Guerrero and Teoscar Hernandez. It's still possible Busch starts Game 5 on the bench if the Brewers go with a lefty opener, but he should enter as soon as a right-hander takes the mound for the opposition.
