Jose Abreu 1B | HOU
Astros' Jose Abreu: Retreats to bench Wednesday
Abreu is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Abreu was on the bench for Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Yankees due to a sore hand, but he returned to the starting nine for both of the Astros' first two games against the Blue Jays, going 2-for-8 with a run scored. The Astros haven't indicated that Abreu suffered a setback with his hand in either contest, so his absence from the lineup Wednesday may be little more than a maintenance day. Jon Singleton will spell Abreu at first base and bat sixth.

Elehuris Montero 1B | COL
Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Sits in second straight game
Montero is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.
Montero started the Rockies' first five games of the season but slashed just .143/.294/.143 with three walks and three strikeouts over those contests. He's on the bench Wednesday for the second day in a row and looks to be in danger of falling into a part-time role in the wake of his poor start to the season.

Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT
Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Takes seat versus lefty
O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.
The lefty-hitting O'Hearn will sit for the third time in six games to begin the season, with all three of his absences coming against left-handed starting pitchers. With O'Hearn on the bench, the Orioles will give Adley Rutschman a day off behind the plate and deploy him as their designated hitter while James McCann forms a battery with starting pitcher Corbin Burnes.

Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Sits against lefty
Schanuel is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
With southpaw A.J. Puk on the bump for Miami, the lefty-hitting Schanuel will head to the bench in the series finale. Miguel Sano will fill in at first base for Schanuel, who had started in each of the Halos' first five games while reaching base at a .400 clip and hitting a home run.

Jared Walsh 1B | CHW
Rangers' Jared Walsh: Logs two hits in loss
Walsh went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Rays.
The lefty-batting Walsh made a fourth consecutive start at first base, including one against a lefty, and has hit safely in all four, going 7-for-18 with two extra-base hits, three RBI and five runs. The season started as a likely platoon of Walsh (against righties) and Ezequiel Duran (lefties) while primary first baseman Nathaniel Lowe (oblique) recovers. However, third baseman Josh Jung's wrist injury, which is expected to keep him sidelined for at least six weeks, may require Duran to help fill that void.

Michael Toglia 1B | COL
Rockies' Michael Toglia: Belts first homer
Toglia went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 12-2 loss to the Cubs.
Getting the start at first base and batting eighth, Toglia spoiled Chicago's combined shutout bid by taking Jose Cuas deep in the seventh inning, but it was the only bright spot on the night for the Rockies. The 25-year-old has started two of the last three games at first base as Kris Bryant splits his time between first and right field, and Toglia has gone 2-for-8 in those contests with Tuesday's blast being his first extra-base hit of the season. Counting DH, Colorado is rotating four players through three spots with Charlie Blackmon and Elehuris Montero also in the mix, so the door could be open for Toglia to claim more playing time if he heats up at the plate.

Christian Walker 1B | HOU
Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Cranks third homer
Walker went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 7-0 victory over the Yankees.
Walker broke the game open in the seventh inning, launching a 424-foot, three-run shot off Jake Cousins to extend Arizona's lead to 6-0. The 33-year-old Walker is now 7-for-24 with three home runs and eight RBI to start the season. He slashed .258/.333/.497 with 33 homers and a career-high 103 RBI last year.

Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL
Cubs' Garrett Cooper: Has big night Tuesday
Cooper went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a triple, a three-run home run and an additional run in Tuesday's 12-2 win over the Rockies.
Cooper finished a single shy of a cycle but it was a huge offensive performance nonetheless. The extra-base hits were his first three of the season, and the veteran now has an absurd 1.806 OPS, albeit in a very small sample size. Cooper is slotted behind Michael Busch right now at first base, though the former could push for more playing time if he stays hot.

LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Takes seat Tuesday
Wade isn't in the Giants' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Wade will take a seat Tuesday with left-hander Ryan Yarbrough expected to serve as the Dodgers' primary pitcher behind opener Ryan Brasier. Wilmer Flores will get the nod at first base, and Mike Yastrzemski will start in right field.

Michael Toglia 1B | COL
Rockies' Michael Toglia: Making second start
Toglia is starting at first base and hitting eighth in Tuesday's contest versus the Cubs.
It's Toglia's second start in six games after he reached base twice in his first one. Kris Bryant is playing right field Tuesday, while Charlie Blackmon will occupy the designated hitter slot.
