  • Blue Jays' Spencer Horwitz: Sent down to minors

Horwitz was optioned to the Blue Jays' Florida Complex League affiliate on Tuesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Triple-A Buffalo's season is over, which is the reasoning behind Horwitz being sent to the Jays' FCL club. He's clearing out to make room for Brandon Belt's return from the injured list.

  • Nate Lowe 1B | CIN

Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Swats 17th long ball

Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Angels on Monday in a 5-1 win.

After Adolis Garcia and Mitch Garver hit consecutive solo homers in the sixth inning, Lowe made it three straight with his own blast to right field. The long ball was just his second over a 34-game stretch dating back to Aug. 19. Lowe has shown less power with 17 homers this season after slugging a career-high 27 last year, but he's improved his RBI count from 76 to 81 thanks largely to hitting in a much more potent Rangers offense.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Exits with knee issue

Schanuel was pulled in the seventh inning of Monday's game against the Rangers due to tightness in his knee, Sarah Valenzuela of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Schanuel fouled a ball off his knee earlier in the contest and was initially able to remain in the game, but manager Phil Nevin noted Schanuel's knee began to tighten up later on, resulting in his removal. Schanuel will be considered day-to-day going forward, and the team plans to evaluate him further Tuesday, per Valenzuela.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Not starting Monday

Flores (knee) isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against San Diego, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Flores was lifted from Sunday's series finale against the Dodgers due to discomfort in his right knee, and he'll be held out of the lineup Monday. The Giants have not revealed whether the utility man will be available off the bench.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Sitting vs. lefty

Wade isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Padres, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Wade will take a seat with the Giants slated to face off against Cy Young candidate Blake Snell. J.D. Davis gets the call at first base and is set to hit fourth in Wade's absence.

  • Drew Ellis 1B | PHI

Phillies' Drew Ellis: Stays in Philadelphia organization

Ellis cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday.

Ellis is no longer on the Phillies' 40-man roster, but he looks set to remain in the organization at least through the end of the season. The utility infielder saw action in 12 games for the Phillies this season, producing an .858 OPS.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Exits with knee discomfort

Flores (knee) exited Sunday's game versus the Dodgers with right knee discomfort, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Flores went 2-for-2 in the contest before he was replaced by J.D. Davis. It doesn't appear to be a long-term concern, but with the Giants fading fast in the wild-card race, Flores may get some extra time off over the last week of the season if he's not feeling 100 percent.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Provides offense in win

Torkelson went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Athletics.

In his first multi-hit game since Sept. 15, Torkelson delivered his 33rd double of the season, though it was his third-inning single that drove in the only two runs of the contest. The 24-year-old has had a nice sophomore campaign, as he's now up to 88 RBI across 153 games. He's collected 19 of those RBI in 21 games this month.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Provides offense in loss

Wade went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Dodgers.

Wade tied the game at 2-2 with his fifth-inning blast. He'd sat out the last two games with the Giants facing left-handed starters in each of those contests. Through 17 games in September, Wade has gone 18-for-52 (.346) with four homers and 10 RBI. The first baseman is at a .262/.376/.428 slash line with 17 long balls, 45 RBI, 63 runs scored and two stolen bases through 130 games this season in a strong-side platoon role.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Braves' Matt Olson: Four hits in doubleheader

Olson went 4-for-8 with a double, a walk, one RBI and two runs scored over both games of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Nationals.

Olson did most of his damage in a 3-for-5 performance in the nightcap. The first baseman has been dialed in at the plate in September, batting .352 (31-for-88) with 10 home runs and three doubles over 23 contests this month. He's up to a .281/.388/.606 slash line with 53 homers, 133 RBI, 124 runs scored, one stolen base and 27 doubles through 156 games overall.
