  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Smacks homer in loss

Vaughn went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Rangers.

Vaughn has hit four homers over his last 11 games, going 10-for-43 (.233) in that span. All of those long balls have been solo shots. The 25-year-old hasn't been able to prop up his batting average much (.241), but his .761 OPS is a solid mark. Vaughn's added 11 homers, 44 RBI, 36 runs scored, 19 doubles, one triple and no stolen bases through 74 contests this season. With solid plate discipline (18.4 percent strikeout rate, 8.4 percent walk rate), he's got a decent chance to bounce back a bit over the rest of the season.

  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Launches 23rd homer

Alonso went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 10-8 loss to the Astros.

The first baseman took Rafael Montero deep in the sixth inning, giving the Mets their last offense of the day. It's Alonso's first homer in four games since making an early return from a bone bruise in his wrist, but overall he's gone just 2-for-16 during that stretch. Despite missing eight games earlier this month with the injury, the 28-year-old still leads the NL with 23 home runs on the year.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Nearing return

Flores (foot) said he expects to be activated from the injured list when first eligible early next week, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Flores ran the bases and fielded grounders Wednesday as he completes his recovery from the left foot contusion that sent him to the 10-day IL on June 17. It sounds like he'll be ready to return to the Giants' active roster ahead of their series opener next Tuesday in Toronto.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Aiming to return Thursday

Wade (side) said he's hoping to return to the starting lineup Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Wade was sent for an MRI on Wednesday morning after being scratched from the Giants' lineup Tuesday due to right side tightness. The results of the imaging scan were apparently encouraging enough that he won't require a stint on the injured list, and he could even be available off the bench Wednesday night against the Padres.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Undergoes shoulder surgery

Pasquantino underwent surgery Wednesday to repair the torn labrum in his right shoulder, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Pasquantino was diagnosed with the season-ending labrum tear a couple weeks ago. He is aiming to be ready for the beginning of the 2024 campaign, though there probably won't be a clearer picture on his overall recovery timetable until the winter months. The 25-year-old first baseman finishes at a .247/.324/.437 slash line with nine homers and 26 RBI over 61 games in 2023.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Reaches 10 thefts

Freeman went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Angels.

Freeman has notched exactly one hit in each of his past five games, and he's reached safely via hit or walk in 13 consecutive contests. The first baseman's steal Tuesday was his 10th of the campaign, marking the third time in his career he's reached that mark. Freeman ranks third in the majors with a .324 average on the season, and he's one of 13 big leaguers with double-digit thefts and homers so far.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Royals' Matt Beaty: Leaves with apparent injury

Beaty left Wednesday's game versus the Tigers with an apparent injury, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. He went 0-for-1 with an RBI groundout prior to his departure.

Beaty collided with Samad Taylor on a bloop single off the bat of Spencer Torkelson and was unable to continue. The Royals will likely provide an update on Beaty's status soon, but for now, he should be considered day-to-day.

  • Keston Hiura 2B | LAD

Brewers' Keston Hiura: Activated at Triple-A

Triple-A Nashville reinstated Hiura (knee) from its 7-day injured list Wednesday, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports.

Hiura will rejoin Nashville after he recently completed a three-game rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, where he went 4-for-10 with a double and a walk. The 26-year-old had been on the shelf at Triple-A since mid-May due to a PCL injury.

  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Twins' Donovan Solano: Fading into platoon role

Solano is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Solano's brief run as a regular in the Minnesota lineup appears to have come to an end; he's now hit the bench for three straight matchups versus right-handed starting pitchers. Though he should retain a prominent spot in the lineup when the Twins face left-handed pitchers, Solano looks like he'll be on the odd man out versus righties now that Alex Kirilloff is getting more time at first base after he spent most of last week playing right field.

  • Jon Singleton: Headed for free agency

Singleton elected free agency after clearing waivers Wednesday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Singleton will seek out an opportunity in a new organization after he was recently moved off the Brewers' 40-man roster following a two-week stint with the big club. In his first MLB action since the 2015 campaign, the 31-year-old first baseman/designated hitter slashed .103/.188/.138 with 11 strikeouts in 32 plate appearances.
