Giants' Matt Beaty: Recalled from Triple-A

Beaty was recalled Saturday from Triple-A Sacramento, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Beaty will provide some depth for the Giants after they lost Joc Pederson to right wrist inflammation. There's no apparent fantasy upside here, as Beaty doesn't have an immediate path to consistent playing time.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Mariners' Ty France: Timely knock extends hit streak

France went 1-for-3 with a two-run double in a win over the Rockies on Friday.

France's fourth-inning two-bagger plated J.P. Crawford and Julio Rodriguez to extend the Mariners' lead to 5-1 at the time. France's hitting streak now sits at 11 games, and he's hitting a blistering .429 over the 17 plate appearances he's logged with runners in scoring position during that span.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Picks up second steal

Mountcastle went 1-for-5 with a stolen base in Friday's 6-3 win over the White Sox.

Mountcastle still has a share of the major-league lead in home runs with six, and he's also notched two steals this season. He's gone 7-for-25 (.280) over his last six contests, and he's slashing a solid .259/.286/.638 with 19 RBI and 10 runs scored over 63 plate appearances. He should see a near-everyday role at first base.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Guardians' Josh Bell: Clubs first homer

Bell went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Friday's 4-3 win over the Nationals.

Bell was off to an awful start this season -- Friday marked his first multi-hit effort of the campaign. The homer was also his first in 2023. Through 13 games, he's slashing just .140/.267.240 with five RBI, three runs scored and two doubles. There's still plenty of time for him to turn things around, and the slow start at the plate has yet to cut into his playing time.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Belts two homers

Tellez went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI during Friday's win over the Padres.

Tellez knocked a solo shot in the fifth inning and added a three-run shot in the sixth. After a brutal 4-for-28 (.143) start to the season, the lefty slugger has gone 5-for-14 (.357) with four homers over his last four games. He bumped his slash line to .214/.300/.595 with Friday's big performance.

  • Nate Lowe 1B | CIN

Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Drives in three runs

Lowe went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI, one run scored and a walk in Friday's win over the Astros.

Lowe opened the game's scoring with an RBI double in the first inning followed by a two-run base hit in the fifth. After a slow start to the year, he's now riding a nine-game hitting streak. During that span, he's gone 11-for-37 (.297) with seven extra-base hits and 10 RBI.

  • Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Could return Saturday

Montero (thumb) could return to action Saturday against the Mariners, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

He is missing a third straight game with a sore thumb but has been doing full pregame on-field activities, so Montero's return is imminent. Alan Trejo is starting at third base Friday.

  • Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Remains out of lineup Friday

Montero (thumb) remains out of the lineup Friday at Seattle.

Montero suffered a right thumb injury on a slide into home plate Monday versus the Cardinals and hasn't played since. Alan Trejo will start at third base and bat eighth for the Rockies on Friday night against the Mariners.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Getting first day off Friday

Cronenworth is not in the lineup Friday against the Brewers.

It's the first day off of the season for Cronenworth, who went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Thursday's series opener versus Milwaukee and is slashing .196/.321/.326 through 57 plate appearances on the year. Brandon Dixon will play first base and hit seventh Friday.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Pirates' Carlos Santana: Gets first off day Friday

Santana isn't starting Friday against the Cardinals.

After going 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI in Thursday's contest, Santana will enjoy his first off day of the season Friday. Ji-Man Choi will take over at first base, moving Andrew McCutchen into the DH spot and Canaan Smith-Njigba into right field to start and bat seventh.
