  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Day off Tuesday

Vaughn isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Twins.

Vaughn has been going through a slump lately, hitting just .081 over the last two weeks. He will sit out Tuesday's contest in favor of AJ Pollock in left, allowing Adam Engel to start in center field and bat ninth.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Tellez is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Pirates.

Tellez, who leads the Brewers this season with 34 home runs in 152 games, will get a breather the day after the Brewers were mathematically eliminated from the playoff picture. Keston Hiura will start at first base and hit fifth.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Sitting after clinching

Hoskins is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Astros, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Several Phillies regulars are out of the lineup following Monday night's playoff-clincher and subsequent celebrations. Darick Hall will start at first base and hit third.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Heads to bench

Mountcastle is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Blue Jays, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Mountcastle is hitting .263 with four runs and four RBI over the last 10 games. Jesus Aguilar draws a rare start at first base while Anthony Santander gets the nod at designated hitter.

  • Triston Casas 1B | BOS

Red Sox's Triston Casas: Out against lefty

Casas is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Rays.

Casas will head to the bench with southpaw Jeffrey Springs on the hill for the Rays. Eric Hosmer is starting at first base and batting seventh.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Starting at third base

Diaz will lead off and play third base Tuesday against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The start will be just Diaz's second since Sept. 19. He's battled shoulder soreness during that time, with his lone start during that period coming as a designated hitter. The fact that he's now ready to take the field seemingly bodes well for his availability for the postseason.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Sits against lefty

Naylor is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Royals.

Naylor has only started against a lefty once in the last three weeks, and he heads to the bench here with southpaw Daniel Lynch on the mound for Kansas City. Owen Miller gets the start at first base, hitting sixth.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Swats 32nd homer

Guerrero went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Monday's 5-1 win over the Orioles.

He took Dean Kremer deep in the third inning, Guerrero's 32nd homer of the season. The 23-year-old slugger is fading to close out the regular season, batting just .188 (9-for-48) over his last 12 games, but he's managed to stay productive with three homers and 12 RBI.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Records first steal

Pasquantino went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Monday's 5-2 extra-inning win over the Guardians.

Pasquantino's sixth-inning steal was the first of his big-league career. The rookie first baseman has a much stronger reputation as a slugger, but he picked up nine steals across 189 minor-league contests in the last two years. He's done well in the majors this year, posting a .288/.379/.436 slash line with nine home runs, 25 RBI and 23 runs scored in 70 contests, and he should have the inside track to be the Royals' starting first baseman in 2023.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Takes seat Monday

Torkelson isn't starting Monday against the Mariners.

Torkelson started the last three games but went 0-for-10 with five strikeouts. He'll get a breather while Harold Castro takes over at first base and bats fifth.
