    Mets' Pete Alonso: Steals fourth base

    Alonso went 0-for-3 with a run scored, an RBI, a walk and a hit-by-pitch in a 7-3 win Sunday over Pittsburgh.

    Alonso was beaned in the first inning, drove in a run on a fielder's choice and stole a base in the second and walked and scored in the eighth. It was his 115th RBI of the season and the sixth straight game in which he drove in a run. He's reached base safely in 12 straight contests and has a .304/.389/.543 slash line with three homers and nine RBI in that span.

    Giants' LaMonte Wade: Still out Sunday

    Wade (side) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.

    The 28-year-old was scratched from Friday's lineup with side tightness and will sit out Sunday for a third straight contest. Heliot Ramos will start in right field and bat ninth while Wade should be considered day-to-day.

    Tigers' Kody Clemens: Sent to Triple-A

    Clemens was optioned to Triple-A Toledo after Sunday's loss to the White Sox, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

    The 26-year-old has started only two games in September and will now head to the minors with Miguel Cabrera (biceps) returning from the injured list. Clemens has struggled in his first taste of the big leagues this year with a .150/.205/.299 slash line in 50 games.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Sets new career high in homers

    Flores went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Dodgers.

    Flores entered Saturday's game stuck in an 0-for-13 skid, but he was able to snap it with his third-inning homer. The infielder has hit safely in just four of 15 games in September, batting .093 this month despite knocking three homers. The late-season slump has dropped his slash line to .229/.312/.408 with a career-high 19 homers, 66 RBI, 67 runs scored and 26 doubles through 137 contests.

    Padres' Josh Bell: Sitting Sunday

    Bell is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

    With Manny Machado getting a rare day out of the field and handling designated hitter duties in the series finale, Bell will sit for the second time in three games. Since being acquired Aug. 2 from the Nationals, Bell has turned in a underwhelming .203/.313/.301 in 40 games. He may have to fight with Wil Myers for one spot in the Padres' everyday lineup over the final two and a half weeks of the season.

    Rockies' Michael Toglia: Out of Sunday's lineup

    Toglia is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.

    Toglia has started every game since being called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Aug. 30, and he'll receive a day off after he posted a .190/.242/.397 slash line in his first 16 big-league contests. Yonathan Daza will start in center field Sunday, which pushes Randal Grichuk to right.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Takes seat Sunday

    Goldschmidt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds, Daniel Guerrero of MLB.com reports.

    Goldschmidt started the past six games and will receive a day off after he posted a .273/.360/.409 slash line with three doubles, three RBI and two runs during that stretch. Albert Pujols will take over at first base while Nolan Arenado rests his legs as the designated hitter.

    Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Activated, hitting second Sunday

    Rizzo (head) was activated from the 10-day injured list and is hitting second Sunday against the Brewers, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

    Rizzo missed 17 days with a head injury and will return Sunday as anticipated. On the season, he is hitting .225 with 30 home runs, 71 runs, 71 RBI and six steals in 117 games.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Held out Sunday

    Mountcastle (tricep) is not in Sunday's lineup against the Blue Jays, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

    Mountcastle left Saturday's game with a left tricep contusion and is still pretty sore, per Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Sun. Jesus Aguilar is starting at first base and hitting fifth in his stead Sunday.

    Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Back in action Sunday

    Hoskins (hand) is starting at first base and batting second Sunday against Atlanta, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

    The 29-year-old hasn't seen the field since Wednesday when he suffered a bruised right hand on a hit-by-pitch, but he's back in the lineup for Sunday's series finale. Through 11 games in September, Hoskins has a .244/.289/.439 slash line with two home runs and five RBI.
