  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Cooper (knee) isn't starting Wednesday against Pittsburgh, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Cooper was removed from Tuesday's matchup after he fouled a pitch off his left knee, and he underwent X-rays that came back negative afterward. However, he'll be out of the lineup for at least one game while Nick Fortes serves as the designated hitter and bats seventh.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Riding pine Wednesday

Flores isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Flores is in the midst of a four-game hitting streak in which he's gone 8-for-19 with three homers, three doubles, eight RBI and four runs. He'll get a breather while David Villar starts at the hot corner and bats seventh.

  • Keston Hiura 2B | LAD

Brewers' Keston Hiura: Sent down Wednesday

Hiura was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.

Hiura was carving out more consistent playing time for the Brewers recently, drawing starts in five of the last seven games. He went 6-for-16 with a homer, a double, two runs, two RBI and a stolen base during that time but will head to the minors ahead of the All-Star break after right-hander Connor Sadzeck's contract was selected Wednesday.

  • Nick Pratto 1B | TEX

Royals' Nick Pratto: On fire lately

Pratto has hit .375/.531/.875 -- good for a 1.406 OPS -- with four homers and an 8:6 BB:K over his last seven games for Triple-A Omaha.

Pratto's strikeout-heavy tendencies have likely been the primary factor that has held him back from the big leagues this year, so it's promising to see him seemingly turning the corner recently. He's offered fairly steady power production (17 homers) with a bit of complementary speed (eight steals) throughout the year, but his .240 batting average and 30.6 percent strikeout rate (even factoring in the recent hot streak) offer obvious cause for concern about his ability to make a near-term impact in the big leagues. If he can maintain his recent plate-control improvements, he'll boost his stock significantly.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Records four hits, homer

Freeman went 4-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and an additional RBI in a 7-6 loss to the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Perhaps feeling slighted from an All-Star Game snub, Freeman delivered a four-hit effort for the second straight game with singles in the first and seventh, an RBI-double in the fifth and a solo shot in the ninth. The 32-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to July with a .356/.388/.622 slash line featuring four doubles and three long balls through 11 games.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Tallies three hits in win

Torkelson went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Royals.

The three-hit effort pushed Torkelson's average to .201, which is a small step forward for the rookie, who's been below the .200 mark most of the season. The 22-year-old has shown flashes of potential amid his struggles, and he should continue to see plenty of playing time, which would make him an interesting fantasy option if he got hot at the plate.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Wrist remains bothersome

Cron's left wrist injury affected him while swinging Monday against the Padres, resulting in him being absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

The slugger returned to action Monday after missing two games after he was hit by a pitch on his left wrist, and he went 0-for-4 with a sacrifice fly and three strikeouts in his return. Cron should be considered day-to-day for now, and the Rockies are likely to be cautious with their first baseman to avoid aggravating the injury, especially with the All-Star break on the horizon.

  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Exits with knee issue

Cooper fouled a pitch off his left knee and was removed from Tuesday's game against the Pirates, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Cooper went 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts before being replaced in the field for the bottom of the seventh inning. According to De Nicola, the 31-year-old had X-rays come back negative and was diagnosed with a bruise on the inside of his knee.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Sitting against southpaw

Wade is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Diamondbacks, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Wade has a .536 OPS in July and will take a seat Tuesday with lefty Dallas Keuchel on the mound for Arizona. Luis Gonzalez will start in right field for the Giants.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rockies' C.J. Cron: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Cron is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.

Cron missed two games after being hit by a pitch on his left wrist before starting Monday, and he'll head back to the bench Tuesday after going 0-for-4 with a sacrifice fly in his return. A setback hasn't been reported, but it's worth keeping an eye on the 32-year-old to see if he's back in the lineup Wednesday.
