  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Swats another homer

    Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and three strikeouts in Friday's 4-2 win over the Brewers.

    Goldschmidt opened the scoring in the third inning with the blast, his third in the last four games. The first baseman is riding a 32-game on-base streak and an 18-game hitting streak, batting .440 (33-for-75) in the latter stretch. This is an excellent run even for a hitter of Goldschmidt's caliber. He's slashing .345/.413/.601 with nine homers, 36 RBI, 28 runs scored, 16 doubles and three stolen bases through 43 contests.

    Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: On bench against southpaw

    Tellez isn't starting Saturday against the Cardinals.

    Tellez went 2-for-12 with a double, an RBI and two strikeouts over the last three games, but he'll get a breather with left-hander Matthew Liberatore on the mound for the Cardinals. Keston Hiura will start at first base and bat sixth.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Not in Saturday's lineup

    Torkelson isn't starting Saturday's game against the Guardians.

    Torkelson was initially slated to get a day off Friday before the game was postponed, and he'll ultimately be out of the lineup Saturday. Harold Castro will take over at first base and bat fifth.

    Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Cranks third homer

    Cooper went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-4 loss to Atlanta.

    He took Ian Anderson deep as the Marlins did all their scoring in the sixth inning. Cooper snapped a 12-game homer drought with the performance, and on the season he's slashing .270/.352/.409 with three long balls and 17 RBI through 40 contests.

    Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Consecutive multi-hit efforts

    Gurriel went 2-for-4 with a run scored Friday against the Mariners.

    Gurriel led off the second inning with a single and came around to score. He chipped in another base knock to begin the sixth frame to turn in his second consecutive multi-hit performance. Even so, he has hit just .184 with four RBI and four runs scored across his last 10 games. Overall, Gurriel has maintained a .232/.264/.384 line across 159 plate appearances.

    Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Involved in win

    Lowe went 3-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Athletics.

    Lowe responded to getting a day off Wednesday by figuring prominently in the two games since. He knocked in a run, stole a base, then scored over the final three innings when the Rangers turned a 5-2 deficit into a win. The stolen base was the first of the season for Lowe, who stole eight bags in 2021.

    Mets' Pete Alonso: Mashes 12th homer

    Alonso went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run and four RBI in Friday's 8-6 win over the Phillies.

    He hooked a Bailey Falter slider deep to left field in the third inning for a two-run shot, while also chipping in a sacrifice fly and an RBI double. Alonso has four long balls and six multi-hit performances over the last nine games, boosting his slash line on the season to .283/.348/.528 with 12 homers and an MLB-leading 45 RBI through 47 contests.

    Mariners' Ty France: Goes deep in win

    France went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Friday's 6-1 win over the Astros.

    France singled and scored in the first inning before adding a solo shot to lead off the third. The 27-year-old has been on a tear this month; he has multiple hits in nine of his last 16 games, going 25-for-63 (.397) with nine extra-base hits and 10 RBI during that stretch. France is slashing .341/.413/.511 with seven home runs through 206 plate appearances on the year.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

    Giants' LaMonte Wade: Starting baseball activities soon

    Wade (knee) will start baseball activities over the weekend, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

    Wade missed just shy of a month at the start of the season with a knee injury and only appeared in 10 games before heading back to the injured list. He'll be eligible to return from the injured list Sunday, but he'll likely need a few more days than that.

  • Dominic Smith 1B | ATL

    Mets' Dominic Smith: Riding pine against lefty

    Smith isn't starting Friday against the Phillies.

    Smith has served in the strong side of a platoon this season, and he'll get a breather with left-hander Bailey Falter on the mound Friday. J.D. Davis will serve as the designated hitter and bat eighth.
