  • Drew Ellis 1B | PHI

Diamondbacks' Drew Ellis: Enters off bench Tuesday

Ellis (side) played the final three innings at third base in Tuesday's 8-6 win over Kansas City. He walked in his lone plate appearance.

Both Ellis and Josh Rojas (hand) were held out of the starting lineup but were available off the bench if needed, according to Jack Sommers of MLB.com. Jake Hager started at third base and was pinch-hit for by Jordan Luplow in the sixth. Arizona is off Wednesday, and it's presumed both Ellis and Rojas will be available when the Diamondbacks kick off a four-game series against the Dodgers on Thursday.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Notches homer, double in loss

Abreu went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a double in Tuesday's 16-3 loss to the Red Sox.

Abreu ripped a two-run home run off Nick Pivetta in the bottom of the fourth inning before later doubling off the starter in the sixth frame. The homer was his fifth of the year and second in four games. Over his last seven games, Abreu has notched five extra-base hits while batting .346 and driving in seven runs in those contests. The hot stretch has raised his batting average to a still-uninspiring .225 over 151 at-bats in 2022, but the 35-year-old may be set to take off as the calendar closes in on June.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Padres' Matt Beaty: Begins rehab assignment

Beaty (shoulder) reported to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Beaty has been sidelined by a shoulder impingement since May 8, but he's now in the final stages of his rehab program. The 29-year-old could rejoin the Padres' active roster by this weekend if all goes well during the rehab stint with El Paso.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Flores is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Flores started the past six games and will take a seat Tuesday after posting a .661 OPS during that stretch. Tommy La Stella will bat leadoff as the designated hitter while Thairo Estrada starts at the keystone.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Sitting versus lefty

Tellez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.

Tellez has started 12 games against left-handed pitching this season, but he had a .182/.270/.333 slash line in 37 plate appearances and will sit Tuesday with southpaw Blake Snell on the mound for San Diego. Keston Hiura will man first base in his place for Milwaukee.

  • Alfonso Rivas 1B | STL

Cubs' Alfonso Rivas: Late addition to lineup

Rivas is starting at first base and batting seventh Tuesday against the Reds, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The 25-year-old was absent from Chicago's initial lineup, but he'll join the starting nine with Tuesday's designated hitter, Yan Gomes, a late scratch with an oblique issue. Rivas is 3-for-26 with 12 strikeouts across his past 10 games.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Padres' Luke Voit: On bench Tuesday

Voit is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Brewers.

Voit has a .829 OPS across his past 10 games and will take a seat for Tuesday's contest. Robinson Cano will bat sixth as the designated hitter against Milwaukee.

  • Drew Ellis 1B | PHI

    Diamondbacks' Drew Ellis: Sidelined Tuesday

Ellis (side) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.

After exiting Monday's 9-5 win in the third inning with right side discomfort, Ellis will get at least one day off to heal up. Top third baseman Josh Rojas (hand) is also on the bench for the third straight game, so the Diamondbacks will turn to Jake Hager to man the hot corner.

  • Alfonso Rivas 1B | STL

Cubs' Alfonso Rivas: Sits amid slump

Rivas is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game in Cincinnati.

The slumping Rivas will take a seat for the second time in four games Tuesday, even with the platoon advantage being in his favor with right-hander Tyler Mahle toeing the rubber for Cincinnati. Since the start of May, Rivas is slashing .130/.273/.217 with a 40 percent strikeout rate.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Not starting Tuesday

Diaz (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Tampa Bay will go with Ji-Man Choi and Isaac Paredes as its starters at the corner-infield spots in the series opener while Diaz gets more time off to heal up from his strained left shoulder. Before sitting out Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Orioles with the injury, Diaz had gone 7-for-17 with three runs scored and an RBI over his previous four games. Diaz doesn't look like a candidate to go on the 10-day injured list, as manager Kevin Cash said the 30-year-old is expected to re-enter the lineup Wednesday, according to Topkin.
