  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Breaks out of slump

Flores went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, two additional runs scored and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 13-2 victory over San Diego.

He was sitting with just one hit entering play Tuesday, but Flores exploded along with the rest of the Giants' offense. Flores singled and scored in the first and second innings before launching a solo shot off San Diego outfielder Wil Myers to push the score to its 13-2 final. He'll look to keep the momentum going as he sees additional playing time with infielders Tommy La Stella and Evan Longoria still on the shelf.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Collects first MLB hit

Torkelson went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox.

Torkelson can now take a deep breath, as he came into Tuesday's contest 0-for-10 with three walks and seven strikeouts to begin his MLB career. With the first hit now behind him, perhaps the 22-year-old can get going at the plate. The Tigers will likely keep giving Torkelson regular chances in an effort to further his development, and fantasy managers should remain patient because the talent is there.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Benched after night to forget at 3B

Bohm is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Bohm has reached base in all six of his plate appearances (three doubles, three walks) between his two starts this season, but he hasn't been able to make much progress in his battle with Bryson Stott for the top job at third base. That might be due to his poor defense more than anything, and his move to the bench Tuesday comes as little surprise after he had a particularly horrendous night at the hot corner in Monday's 5-4 win over the Mets. Though he successfully fielded the five balls hit his way, Bohm's three throwing errors were a big reason the Phillies fell into a 4-0 hole before rallying for five runs in the bottom of the eighth. Stott is picking up a start at the keystone Tuesday in place of a resting Jean Segura, but Bohm will still take a seat while Johan Camargo fills in for him at third base.

  • Drew Ellis 1B | PHI

Diamondbacks' Drew Ellis: Moved to minors

The Diamondbacks optioned Ellis to Triple-A Reno on Monday.

Arizona swapped him off the 28-man active roster in favor of another backup infielder in Yonny Hernandez, who offers the ability to handle more defensive positions. Ellis is largely limited to playing the two corner-infield spots, and he was unable to take advantage of the early playing time that was extended to him while Josh Rojas (oblique) opened the season on the injured list. In three games with Arizona, Ellis went 1-for-8 with four strikeouts.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Back from paternity leave

The Astros reinstated Gurriel (personal) from the paternity list Monday, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Houston has yet to release its lineup for Tuesday's series opener in Arizona, but it's expected to include Gurriel, who started in last Thursday's Opening Day game against the Angels before leaving the team to witness the birth of his child. Niko Goodrum and Aledmys Diaz shared duties at first base over the three games Gurriel missed, but both are expected to move back into utility roles.

  • Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN

Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Gets Tuesday off

Kirilloff is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.

Kirilloff will take a seat after he went 1-for-15 with seven strikeouts while starting in each of the Twins' first four games. The righty-hitting Gilberto Celestino will replace the lefty-hitting Kirilloff in left field with southpaw Andrew Heaney on the hill for Los Angeles.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

    Rays' Yandy Diaz: Sitting Tuesday

Diaz will be on the bench Tuesday against Oakland, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Diaz hits the bench for the second time in the team's first five games. He's gone 1-for-9 with three walks thus far this season. Taylor Walls will take over at the hot corner.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Not starting Tuesday

Vaughn is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Vaughn will sit for the second time in four games to begin the season, but manager Tony LaRussa may have a tougher time keeping him out of the lineup moving forward after the White Sox placed AJ Pollock (hamstring) on the injured list. Pollock's removal from the active roster removes one potential roadblock to playing time, though Vaughn will still head to the bench Tuesday with top catcher Yasmani Grandal getting a day off behind the dish and serving as the White Sox's designated hitter instead. Vaughn has gotten off to a hot start through Chicago's first three games, going 4-for-10 with two home runs and six RBI.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

    Rockies' C.J. Cron: Producing early

Cron went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two RBI in Monday's win over the Rangers.

Cron delivered a leadoff home run in the ninth inning to put the Rockies up 4-3. He also helped the team get off to a strong offensive start, delivering an RBI triple in the first inning. Though early in the season, Cron has been very productive by delivering two home runs, four RBI and four runs scored across 17 plate appearances.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Ramping up baseball activities

Wade (knee) has been throwing and hitting off a tee and will begin a running progression this week, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Wade is on the injured list with knee inflammation to begin the season, so seeing him ramp up his baseball work less than a week after Opening Day is a good sign. The 28-year-old should advance to live at-bats and running the bases before long if he continues to progress with no issues.
