  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Day off Thursday

Goldschmidt will sit Thursday against the Brewers, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

The Cardinals typically don't rotate their lineup much, but they've given several regulars a rest over the last two days after clinching a playoff spot Tuesday. Matt Carpenter will play first base Thursday.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Dealing with minor injuries

Wade picked up injuries to his knee and side during Wednesday's 1-0 win against the Diamondbacks, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Wade apparently suffered the injuries while making a sliding catch attempt in the outfield, though he initially remained in the contest. However, he felt limited enough in his final plate appearance to call his own sacrifice bunt -- which ended up leading to the game's lone run -- and he was pulled via a double switch to open the following frame. It's not believed to be a serious concern for the 27-year-old, but the Giants figure to remain cautious with only four more games before the start of the playoffs.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Nursing knee issue

Voit suffered a right knee injury during Wednesday's loss to the Blue Jays, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

Voit struck out in his pinch-hit appearance Wednesday, but he picked up the knee injury running to first base on a dropped third strike. The 30-year-old is receiving treatment and should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Out of lineup Wednesday

Diaz (ribs) isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Astros, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Diaz exited Tuesday's game against Houston due to left rib discomfort after slugging a two-run home run in three at-bats, and he'll be out of the lineup for at least one contest. However, he was feeling better Wednesday and is hopeful that he'll be back in the starting nine by Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Remains out of lineup

Vaughn isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.

Vaughn has gone just 1-for-14 with two runs, two walks and five strikeouts across his last five appearances, and he'll be out of the lineup for a second straight game. Gavin Sheets will serve as the designated hitter and bat eighth.

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Day off Wednesday

Votto isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Votto will be out of the lineup for the second time in the last four games after he went 3-for-8 with two homers and four RBI across his last two appearances. Max Schrock will shift to first base while Jose Barrero starts in center field.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Diamondbacks' Kole Calhoun: Collects two hits in loss

Calhoun went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to San Francisco.

Calhoun got the start in right field, just the third time over the last eight games the veteran was in the starting lineup. He's batting .308 (8-for-26) with two home runs and seven RBI in 10 games since being activated off the injured list. There's very little chance the Diamondbacks will bring Calhoun back in 2022.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Blasts 21st homer

Cronenworth went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a strikeout in a 2-1 loss to the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Cronenworth brought a dormant Padres offense to within one run with his ninth-inning home run off Blake Treinen but the blow proved to be too little too late. The infielder has been serviceable for much of September with a .259/.333/.466 line that's seen a recent boost with a combined 4-for-7 featuring two doubles, a triple, a home run and two walks over Cronenworth's last two games.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Dealing with rib injury

Diaz was removed from Tuesday's game against the Astros with left rib discomfort, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Diaz clubbed a two-run homer during the opening frame and ended up going 1-for-3 before being lifted during the seventh inning. The severity of the injury remains unclear, and the 30-year-old should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Swats 32nd long ball

Mountcastle went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Tuesday's win over the Red Sox.

Mountcastle tied up the score with a 400-footer against Chris Sale in the sixth inning. The Orioles would eventually score and take the lead for good in that same frame. Overall this season, Mountcastle has collected 32 long balls, including seven this month.
