  • Rays' Christopher Morel: Not starting Saturday

Morel isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Despite recording a base hit in six of his last seven games, Morel will now sit down for the third time in Tampa Bay's last four contests. Yandy Diaz will instead serve as the Rays' DH while Austin Shenton starts at first base and bats ninth.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | TB

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Remaining out Saturday

Lowe (finger) isn't in the Rays' lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reporrts.

Inflammation in Lowe's finger prevented him from playing in Friday's game, and his absence will now extend into Saturday. Jonathan Aranda will pick up a start at the keystone and bat second while Lowe sits.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Swats 12th homer

Massey went 3-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-0 win over the Twins.

The second baseman took rookie Zebby Matthews deep in the fourth inning, part of Massey's first multi-hit performance since Aug. 24. That brief slump has been the exception for the 26-year-old of late -- since the beginning of August, Massey is slashing .297/.330/.473 over 28 contests with nine extra-base hits, including three of his 12 homers on the year.

  • Red Sox's Enmanuel Valdez: Scores go-ahead run Friday

Valdez started at second base and went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's 3-1 win over the White Sox.

Valdez walked and scored on Ceddanne Rafaela's home run in the seventh inning. Valdez, who's started three of the last four games, may begin losing opportunities going forward. The Red Sox plan to reinstate Trevor Story (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Saturday, and Story will start at shortstop while Rafaela moves to second base.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | CLE

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Opens scoring with long ball

Gimenez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 3-1 win over the Dodgers.

Gimenez opened the scoring in the top of the sixth inning. The second baseman hasn't hit for much power this year, but he has three homers over his last seven games to give him eight long balls on the year. Overall, he's slashing .251/.303/.343 with 57 RBI, 60 runs scored and 25 stolen bases through 133 contests.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | TB

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Out Friday with finger injury

Lowe is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles with ligament inflammation on both sides of his middle finger, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

The Rays are trying to get the inflammation to "calm down," per manager Kevin Cash, but right now they're unsure how long it's going to take before Lowe can return to action. The second baseman had his finger wrapped prior to Friday's game and will be sent for further evaluation. Jose Caballero is starting at second base Friday against right-hander Dean Kremer, with Taylor Walls at shortstop.

  • Jorge Polanco 2B | SEA

Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Heads to bench

Polanco is not in Friday's lineup against the Cardinals.

Polanco will head to the bench for the second time in three games after starting the previous three. Dylan Moore is getting the start at second base, even with righty Erick Fedde on the hill for St. Louis.

  • Blue Jays' Spencer Horwitz: Sitting against Fried

Horwitz is not in Friday's lineup against Atlanta.

Horwitz has been playing pretty regularly at first base and designated hitter, but he'll head to the bench for the second time in as many games with the Jays facing back-to-back southpaws. Nathan Lukes enters the lineup in right field with George Springer starting at DH.

  • Rays' Christopher Morel: Sitting Friday

Morel is not in Friday's lineup against the Orioles.

This is only Morel's second time out of the lineup in the last 10 games, even though he is hitting .191 with 42 strikeouts and three home runs in 31 games since getting traded to Tampa Bay. Jose Caballero draws the start at second base while Taylor Walls mans shortstop.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | TB
