  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Back in lineup Tuesday

Altuve (shoulder) is starting at second base and batting leadoff Tuesday against the Twins, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Altuve will be back in the lineup after he missed Sunday's victory over Atlanta while nursing a sore shoulder. After a hot stretch from late July to early August, the second baseman has batted just .188 with one home run, six RBI, seven runs and three stolen bases over 48 at-bats in his last 14 games.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: On bench versus lefty

Lowe will sit Tuesday against the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe will be on the bench Tuesday as the Rays face left-hander Jose Suarez on the mound. Yu Chang will draw the start at second base and bat seventh versus Los Angeles.

  • Zack Short 3B | DET

Tigers' Zack Short: Starting at second base

Short is starting at second base and batting ninth Tuesday against the Giants.

After being recalled Tuesday, Short will draw the start at second base in place of Jonathan Schoop (ankle), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. Short will be in the Tigers' starting lineup for the second time this season.

  • Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI

White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Drives in three

Andrus went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI on Monday against the Royals.

Andrus drove in a pair of runs on a single in the fourth inning and followed that up with an RBI double in the seventh frame. He has started all three games since joining the White Sox, collecting three hits in 12 at-bats. With Tim Anderson (hand) out until at least late September, Andrus should have a clear path to playing time.

  • Zack Short 3B | DET

Tigers' Zack Short: Called up Tuesday

Short was called up from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Short will return to the big leagues after being sent down Aug. 3, replacing Jonathan Schoop (ankle) on the active roster after Schoop was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Short has gone 0-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base in two games with the Tigers this year.

  • Jonathan Arauz 3B | LAD

Orioles' Jonathan Arauz: Reinstated, optioned to Triple-A

Arauz (finger) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Arauz will report to Triple-A after missing just under a month while recovering from a sprained right middle finger. The 24-year-old has gone 5-for-11 with a double and four RBI while scoring a run and stealing a base over three games with Norfolk this year. Arauz will likely return to the big leagues at some point down the stretch.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Day off Monday

Torres is not in the starting lineup Monday versus the Mets.

Torres will take a seat after he went 2-for-15 with a solo homer and seven strikeouts while starting all four games of the series with Toronto. DJ LeMahieu will slide over to designated hitter while Oswaldo Cabrera enters the lineup at second base and bats sixth in the series opener.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Day off Monday

Lowe is not in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.

The lefty-hitting Lowe will take a seat with southpaw Tucker Davidson toeing the rubber for the Angels. Yu Chang will draw the start at second base and bat fifth Monday.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Snaps out of slump

Lowe went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored Sunday against the Royals.

Lowe entered Sunday's game with only three hits across his last 36 at-bats -- spanning 10 games. Despite the encouraging performance, Lowe still has no extra-base hits since Aug. 5. For the season, he has a .235/.313/.410 line across 243 plate appearances.

  • Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM

Twins' Jorge Polanco: Gets rest Monday

Polanco is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.

After missing two games with a knee injury early last week, Polanco checked back into the lineup Friday and played each of the first three contests of the series with the Rangers, going 3-for-10 with a double and a walk. The Twins haven't provided any indication that Polanco is dealing with a setback with the knee, so he's presumably sitting out Monday in a pre-planned maintenance day. Luis Arraez will spell Polanco at the keystone.
