Arraez (shoulder) is expected to spend a few weeks on the injured list, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

It's far from a precise timeline, but it doesn't look as though Arraez is in contention to return from his shoulder injury in the minimum 10 days. Jorge Polanco has been the primary second baseman in his absence and will likely remain in that role until Arraez returns.

Wong's contract was selected by the Angels on Saturday.

The versatile utility man will give the Angels an extra option all around the diamond. He's unlikely to be the top name at any specific spot on the depth chart, as he's a 26-year-old with just seven MLB games under his belt, though he'll head straight to the starting lineup for Saturday's game in Oakland, batting seventh and playing second base. Drew Butera was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Andrus went 2-for-3 with a run in a win over the Angels on Friday. He was also caught stealing on his only attempt.

Andrus' third multi-hit effort in his last four games pushed his average over the Mendoza Line for the first time since Opening Day. The veteran shortstop has essentially been struggling with the bat since the beginning of last season, but perhaps his current 8-for-15 stretch at the plate will finally serve as a long-awaited launchpad back to his career norms.

Short was recalled by the Tigers on Saturday.

Short spent just over a month in the minors and slashed .227/.424/.409 with two home runs, nine runs scored and seven RBI in 13 games with Triple-A Toledo. He'll reclaim a major-league roster spot after right-hander Jose Urena (forearm) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, but Short should serve mainly in a depth role.

Merrifield went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI in Friday's 8-3 win over the Twins.

The RBI were his first since May 16, while the multi-hit effort was his first since May 15. The recent swoon has dragged Merrifield's OPS down to .697, which would be the lowest mark of his career, but he's still been productive with four homers, 14 steals, 27 RBI and 30 runs through 49 games.

Mayfield, who was out of the starting lineup Friday against the Rangers after going 1-for-2 with a two-run double and a walk in Thursday's win, is slashing just .095/.136/.143 across 22 plate appearances this season.

The 30-year-old put together some solid offensive seasons at the upper levels of the minors in the Astros organization, but he's looked absolutely overmatched over 55 games in parts of three seasons at the big-league level with Houston, the Angels and the Mariners. Thursday's timely two-bagger was only Mayfield's second hit of the season, and his career-high 36.4 percent strikeout rate has certainly been an impediment thus far.

Rosario (hand) went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Friday's 11-2 loss to Toronto.

Rosario missed a couple of games with a bruised hand, and his return wasn't all that impressive. The shortstop was hot at the plate in the last 13 games prior to his injury, posting a .347/.407/.449 slash line in that span. Rosario could face a challenge from prospect Owen Miller for playing time at shortstop should his offense cool off.

Bannon was placed on the 7-day minor-league injured list with a left oblique strain Friday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Bannon appeared in 20 games for Triple-A Norfolk to begin the year and hit .175 with two home runs, five doubles and nine RBI during that time. It's not yet clear how much time the 25-year-old is expected to miss.

Rosario (hand) will bat second and play shortstop Friday against Toronto.

A bruised right hand scratched Rosario from the lineup Thursday against the Tigers, though he was able to appear off the bench. He'll be involved from the start Friday and will be looking to build on a hot streak which has seen him hit .375/.459/.500 over his last 10 games.

Lopez will sit for the second straight game Friday against the Twins.

Lopez's .609 OPS this season actually represents the best mark of his three-year career, so it's no surprise to see him lose playing time. Adalberto Mondesi's return from an oblique injury Tuesday dealt the first blow to Lopez's starting chances, while Hunter Dozier's return from a concussion Friday could send him to the bench on a regular basis. Dozier starts in right field Friday, keeping Whit Merrifield at second base and Lopez on the bench.
