Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Leaves with back spasms
Arroyo was removed from Saturday's game against the Yankees with back spasms, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
The 25-year-old struck out in both of his plate appearances before exiting the contest with the injury. Arroyo should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.

Santiago Espinal 2B | LAD
Blue Jays' Santiago Espinal: Sent down by Blue Jays
Espinal was optioned to the Blue Jays' alternate training site Saturday.
Espinal carved out a role with the Blue Jays in late August, but he saw his playing time dwindle in recent games. He should get more consistent playing time at the alternate training site and could serve as depth if injuries occur in the team's infield.

Tigers' Harold Castro: Starting Saturday
Castro is starting at third base and batting fifth in Saturday's game against Cleveland.
Isaac Paredes will get a breather Saturday, which opens up third base for Castro. The versatile 26-year-old is slashing .281/.361/.375 through 16 games so far this season.

Christian Arroyo 2B | NYM
Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Four-RBI effort Friday
Arroyo went 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and a run scored in a 6-5 loss to the Yankees on Friday.
Arroyo got the scoring going in the fourth inning with a moonshot three-run homer over the Green Monster to give the Red Sox a 3-0 lead. The 25-year-old provided another clutch hit when he singled up the middle, bringing around Michael Chavis to score to even the game up at 5-5 in the 11th. Since being called up Sept. 8, Arroyo is hitting .303/.343/.606 with three home runs, eight RBI and five runs scored in 35 plate appearances.

Gleyber Torres 2B | DET
Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Goes yard in return
Torres went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Thursday's 10-7 win over the Blue Jays.
In his first game back in the starting lineup after nursing a minor quad injury, Torres launched one of a club-record five homers in the fourth inning. The 23-year-old is slashing .259/.365/.407 through 34 games with a disappointing three homers and 14 RBI.

Harold Castro 2B | KC
Tigers' Harold Castro: Will return Friday
Castro (hamstring) will be activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Friday's game against the Indians, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Castro has been on the shelf since Aug. 18 due to a hamstring injury, and after suffering a minor setback earlier this month, he's been cleared to return. He was slashing .276/.364/.379 with three doubles and an RBI over 15 contests prior to suffering the injury.

Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT
Rays' Brandon Lowe: Productive in loss
Lowe went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and a stolen base in an extra-inning loss to the Nationals on Wednesday.
On a mostly forgettable night for the Rays' offense, Lowe was essentially the only true bright spot. His ninth-inning homer off Daniel Hudson was Lowe's third round-tripper in the last five games, and his three-hit night extended his hitting streak to seven games after he opened September in an 0-for-12 slump.

Gleyber Torres 2B | DET
Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Returns to lineup
Torres (quad) is starting Thursday against the Blue Jays.
Torres wasn't in the starting nine over the last three games, but he'll return to action for the team's series finale against the Blue Jays. His absence appears to have been precautionary, and he should be available for the Yankees going forward as long as he doesn't experience any setbacks.

Danny Mendick 3B | CHW
White Sox's Danny Mendick: Sent to alternate site
Mendick was optioned to the alternate training site Thursday.
The 26-year-old saw regular playing time at second base while Nick Madrigal was on the injured list, but he's appeared in only five games since the start of September. Mendick has a .243/.281/.383 slash line with three homers in 114 plate appearances and could rejoin the team when additional infield depth is needed.
