Michael Chavis 2B | CIN
Red Sox's Michael Chavis: Returns to bench Thursday
Chavis is out of the lineup Thursday against the Marlins, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
Chavis will head to the bench for the second time in the past three games after going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Wednesday. Yairo Munoz receives the start in left field, batting seventh, in Thursday's series finale.

Whit Merrifield 2B | ATL
Royals' Whit Merrifield: Steals 10th base
Merrifield went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two stolen bases Wednesday against Detroit.
Merrifield began the sixth inning with a single. One batter later, he stole second base, and he ultimately came around to score after Salvador Perez delivered a double. Merrifield and Adalberto Mondesi ran on a double steal in eighth frame, getting Merrifield to 10 stolen bags on the season. Overall, Merrifield is hitting .279/.330/.466 with nine home runs, 31 runs scored and 29 RBI across 221 plate appearances.

Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM
Twins' Jorge Polanco: Out of Wednesday's lineup
Polanco is not in the lineup Wednesday against the White Sox.
Polanco is 2-for-17 over his last five games and will take a seat for Wednesday's contest. Ehire Adrianza will start at shortstop in his place versus White Sox starter Lucas Giolito.

Jonathan Arauz 3B | LAD
Red Sox's Jonathan Arauz: Losing out on reps
Arauz remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Arauz has started only once in 10 games for Boston, with the arrival of Christian Arroyo having seemingly made the Rule 5 pickup an afterthought for manager Ron Roenicke. To be fair, Arauz hasn't really provided the skipper with a compelling reason to play him. Over his 59 plate appearances this season, Arauz has slashed .222/.288/.259.

Gleyber Torres 2B | DET
Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Remains sidelined Wednesday
Torres (quad) isn't starting Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Torres will sit for a third consecutive game as he continues to deal with a quad issue. However, he could be available as a pinch hitter once again. Tyler Wade will start at shortstop in his absence.

Tony Kemp 2B | MIN
Athletics' Tony Kemp: Work picks up
Kemp will start at second base and will bat ninth Wednesday against the Rockies.
Kemp finds himself in the starting nine for the fourth time in five games, as Tommy La Stella has been seeing more work at third base of late to leave the keystone open. However, if Stephen Piscotty (knee) is able to reclaim his usual spot in right field for this weekend's series with the Giants, Kemp would likely be bumped out of the regular lineup versus right-handed pitching. The 28-year-old still looks like a better fit in AL-only leagues rather than mixed leagues.

Jack Mayfield 2B | LAA
Astros' Jack Mayfield: Enters for injured Correa
Mayfield entered Tuesday's game after Carlos Correa left with an ankle injury. He went 0-for-1 and played shortstop for the final three innings of a 4-1 win over the Rangers.
Correa's injury has been diagnosed as a bone bruise and X-rays were negative. If the injury forces Correa to sit, Mayfield is a possible replacement, particularly with Aledmys Diaz (quadriceps) dealing with an injury.

Jose Altuve 2B | HOU
Astros' Jose Altuve: Hitless in return
Altuve went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Texas.
Altuve returned to the lineup Tuesday after being activated from the injured list. In an atypical season, Altuve has produced atypical numbers, with his .598 OPS checking in nearly 300 points lower than his 2019 figure.

Whit Merrifield 2B | ATL
Royals' Whit Merrifield: Records two hits
Merrifield went 2-for-5 with a double in the Royals' 6-0 loss to the Tigers on Tuesday night. He also stole a base.
Merrifield swiped his eight bag of the season and logged his third-consecutive multi-hit game. Unfortunately, the Royals were 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base during Tuesday's showing. Nonetheless, Merrifield remains one of the hottest hitters in baseball, riding a 13-for-30 stretch with three walks and only two strikeouts.

Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL
Yankees' Thairo Estrada: Returns to alternate site
Estrada was optioned to the alternate training site after Tuesday's win over the Blue Jays.
The 24-year-old saw regular playing time toward the end of August with DJ LeMahieu sidelined, but he's struggled with a .469 OPS in 25 games this season. Estrada may not rejoin the big-league club with the team getting healthier and with less than two weeks remaining in the regular season.
