Hye Seong Kim 2B | LAD
Dodgers' Hyeseong Kim: Dispatched to OKC
The Dodgers optioned Kim to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.
Kim began spring training with a chance to win a spot in the Dodgers' infield unit. However, he slashed just .207/.303/.310 across 33 plate appearances during Cactus League play, so the team will send him to Triple-A to continue developing. The 26-year-old was a career .304 hitter during his eight seasons in Korea, so there's still plenty of reason to believe he'll contribute for the big-league club eventually.

Michael Chavis 2B | CIN
Dodgers' Michael Chavis: Sent to minor-league camp
Chavis was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Chavis latched on with Los Angeles in February on a minor-league contract and went on to hit .214 with two runs scored over 14 at-bats in seven games during spring training. The infielder will not make the trip to Japan for the Tokyo Series and appears set to begin the 2025 campaign with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Enmanuel Valdez 2B | PIT
Pirates' Enmanuel Valdez: Optioned to Triple-A
The Pirates optioned Valdez to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.
Valdez joined the Pirates over the offseason in a trade with Boston, but his tenure with the organization will officially begin in the minors. The 26-year-old owns a .686 OPS across 371 career plate appearances, though his ability to play in both the infield and outfield could help his chances at returning to Pittsburgh over the course of the season.

Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA
Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Gets busy on basepaths
Edwards went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run scored and two stolen bases in Monday's split-squad game against the Nationals.
The steals were the first of the spring for Edwards, who is batting .320 (8-for-25) through nine Grapefruit League appearances. After a breakout 2024 season, the shortstop is looking to build on a performance that saw him swipe 31 bags in 35 attempts over just 70 games while delivering a .328/.397/.423 slash line.

Connor Norby 2B | MIA
Marlins' Connor Norby: Launches first spring homer
Norby went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's split-squad game against the Nationals.
The third baseman took Shinnosuke Ogasawara deep in the first inning, giving Norby his first homer of the spring. The 24-year-old slashed .247/.315/.445 with seven homers and 17 RBI in 36 games last season for the Marlins after being acquired from the O's, and while his minor-league track record suggests he can improve on those numbers once he gets comfortable in the Show, his 32.1 percent strikeout rate with Miami needs work. Norby's gone 8-for-28 (.286) through nine appearances this spring, but that comes with a 1:7 BB:K.

Joseph Ortiz 2B | MIL
Brewers' Joey Ortiz: On fire in March
Ortiz went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBI in Monday's Cactus League game against the Mariners.
Ortiz went just 1-for-10 in the four spring games he appeared in last month, but he has gotten hot since the calendar flipped to March, going 7-for-13 (.538) with four extra-base hits and three steals. The Brewers have not yet decided whether Ortiz or Brice Turang will be the primary shortstop, but expect Ortiz to see regular action one way or another.

Tim Tawa 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Tim Tawa: Sent down to minors
The Diamondbacks optioned Tawa to Triple-A Reno on Monday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Tawa was added to the 40-man roster over the winter after slugging 31 home runs between Double-A Amarillo and Reno in 2024 and he will head back to Reno to begin the 2025 campaign. The 25-year-old can play all over the diamond, and his versatility should give him a chance to make his debut later this season.

Tyler Callihan LF | PIT
Reds' Tyler Callihan: Sent to minor-league camp
The Reds optioned Callihan to Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
Callihan was added to the 40-man roster in November, but given that he has only four games of experience above the Double-A level in addition to the fact that Cincinnati is well stocked in the infield, he never looked like a serious threat to break camp with the big club. The 24-year-old will likely spend the majority of the season at Louisville after slashing .271/.345/.413 with eight home runs and 21 steals over his 282 plate appearances at Double-A Chattanooga in 2024.
-
Nolan Gorman 2B | STL
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Struggling this spring
Gorman is just 4-for-26 with a 9:1 K:BB over his first nine Grapefruit League contests this spring.
Gorman worked with new hitting coach Brant Brown over the offseason on his plate discipline, but he has struggled to put those tips into action so far in camp. The Cardinals have pledged to give the 24-year-old a long leash this season, so Gorman is expected to open the year with a regular role -- likely bouncing between second base and designated hitter -- regardless of how he performs this spring. Potential fantasy investors would still like to see him string together some hits, however.

Jared Serna 2B | MIA
Marlins' Jared Serna: Optioned to Pensacola
The Marlins optioned Serna to Double-A Pensacola on Saturday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Serna appeared in six games at Triple-A Jacksonville at the end of last season, but the Marlins will send him back to Double-A to begin the 2025 campaign. The 22-year-old infielder went 4-for-7 with a home run, three runs scored and a stolen base in the Grapefruit League, and he may not have to wait long to return to Triple-A if his hot bat follows him to Pensacola.
