Luis Garcia 2B | WAS
Nationals' Luis Garcia: Raps out two hits
Garcia went 2-for-5 with a double and a run in Friday's 10-6 win over Atlanta.
Since returning to the majors Sept. 8 after a five-week stint at Triple-A Rochester, Garcia has restored some faith that he might be the Nationals' long-term answer at second base. After going just 2-for-22 in his first eight games following his call-up, Garcia has caught fire at the plate and has climbed up the batting order accordingly. He's slashing .419/.457/.721 with seven extra-base hits over his last 12 games and has batted out of the No. 5 spot in five straight contests.

Jake Alu LF | WAS
Nationals' Jake Alu: Slugs second homer
Alu went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 10-6 win over Atlanta.
The 26-year-old has been holding down a near-everyday role since the beginning of August, but despite playing regularly, he hasn't offered much fantasy utility outside of very deep mixed leagues or NL-only leagues. His home run Friday was just his second of the season, and Alu's contributions in other categories (.231 average, 16 RBI, 14 runs and five stolen bases in 49 games) haven't been enough to compensate for the lack of power.

Brendan Rodgers 2B | BOS
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Finding power to end season
Rodgers went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Friday against the Twins.
Rodgers led off the fifth inning with his fourth home run of the season, each of which has come in his last nine games. He's been limited to only 44 games after suffering a shoulder injury during spring training, though he's ultimately delivered a slash line remarkably similar to his 2022 campaign. Most importantly, Rodgers appears to be proving healthy before heading into the offseason.

Jonathan India 2B | KC
Reds' Jonathan India: Logs another multi-hit game
India went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run, two RBI and two additional runs scored in Friday's 19-2 win over the Cardinals.
India was one of the six members of the Reds' starting lineup to go deep in the win, which kept Cincinnati alive in the playoff hunt. He singled and scored in the first inning, then launched a two-run home run in the second. The second baseman scored a third run after being hit by a pitch in the fourth. After going 5-for-42 over the first 11 games since being activated off the injured list, India logged a third multi-hit effort over the last four contests, during which he's scored seven runs.

Alan Trejo SS | COL
Rockies' Alan Trejo: Homers in loss
Trejo went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run in Friday's 7-6 loss to the Twins.
Trejo has been mired in a 1-for-25 stretch but has now recorded four hits over his past two games, including Friday's blast. The utility player is hitting .226 with four homers, 26 RBI, 23 runs and five steals over 205 at-bats.

Ketel Marte 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Picks up steal in loss
Marte went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Astros.
Two of Marte's eight steals this season have come in September. He's hitting .313 (26-for-83) this month, an improvement on his .278 mark for the season. The second baseman has added an .849 OPS, 25 home runs, 82 RBI, 94 runs scored, 26 doubles and nine triples through 149 contests.

Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC
Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Diagnosed with knee contusion
Hoerner departed Friday's game against the Brewers with a left knee contusion, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Hoerner suffered the contusion when he fouled a ball off his knee in the top of the sixth inning. X-rays came back negative for any fractures, per Lee, and the second baseman will try to rally back Saturday with the Cubs in must-win territory to keep their NL wild-card hopes alive.

Hoerner fouled a ball off his left knee in the top of the sixth inning and was replaced at second base by Miles Mastrobuoni to begin the bottom of the seventh. Hoerner finished the night 0-for-3.

Ji-Hwan Bae 2B | NYM
Pirates' Ji Hwan Bae: Sitting Friday
Bae isn't in the Pirates' lineup Friday against the Marlins, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Bae has gone 5-for-20 with four RBI and three runs scored across his last five games, and he'll get a breather to open Pittsburgh's final series of 2023. Jared Triolo will start at second base instead while Connor Joe gets the nod at first base.

Luis Arraez 2B | SF
Marlins' Luis Arraez: Still out Friday
Arraez (ankle) isn't in the Marlins' lineup Friday against Pittsburgh, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
As the Marlins continue to fight for the third NL Wild Card spot, Arraez will miss his fourth consecutive start since aggravating a left ankle sprain Saturday against the Brewers. Jon Berti will start at second base and bat sixth.
